    Firstly im posting this question here because i dont know where else to post this.

    I want to get a free domain name for a website. From where can i get one?
    And what is a good web hosting service that is free?

    Is there such a thing as a free domain name? Now that GeoCities no longer exists :p

    Tried using google but cant find them. Many sites say free domains but when u check them you actually have to pay

    Ahhh well alot of sites offer Free domains when you pay for Hosting.

    Tbh domains are really cheap anyway!

    no such thing as a free domain, sure you could host a free site ontop of someone elses domain aka geocities which is no more
    depending on the name you want and wether .com .co.uk etc they aren't expensive
    go check out godaddy, they also provide hosting and you can get like 20% off the lifetime of your order just go watch some revision3 shows for the discount code

    To get a domain along the lines of yourdomain.com, you'd pretty much need to pay. They're cheap though (even from here), and you can often buy annual packages that should cost you around 10 Euro/12USD dependant on what type of domain, who the registrar is, etc.
    Domains are only half the battle. Once you have a domain, you need to host the content somewhere. And that's somewhere with a static IP, so that the DNS servers can find you. Most ISP's these days don't like giving out Static public IPs. because then everyone would jsut host stuff on their own PC. So you'd buy a hosting package as well...
    even those can be cheap, though. Just shop around a bit.

    you could use dyndns and set up A/MX records etc to point to your PC and host it there but depends how much traffic your expecting
