Hi guys, basically, Im looking to do some basic photo editing, but im not really in the position to be spending a great deal of money on software, I was wondering if anyone knew of a good photo editing software available, preferably for free, which I could use to get started?

Any advice is much appreciated. :thumb:

If it's just basic tweaking you're after, then I'd suggest Picasa. GIMP offers you more control but it's a real pig to use.

    The GIMP is your answer.

GIMP is powerful but can be a **** to use, Paint.net is simple, free and very versatile.

Paint.net for general file editing, but Picasa is good for picture-specific tasks. Both easy to use and quite small.

GIMP, or PhotoFiltre if you want something a bit more simple.

I don't know why people find the GIMP a pain to use. I started on GIMP before I ever used Photoshop, and it's only a little less intuitive.

    +1 for Paint.NET.
