    Hi chaps.

The hardware running my FreeNAS is dying, to the stage where I struggle to keep it up for long periods of time.

I have a ZFS pool of 10 1tb drives, in RAID5 format. Is there any way I can migrate this ZFS pool to new hardware, I mean, I thought that was one of the benefits of software raid, that the data wasn't always entirely lost by changes in hardware?

if this is software raid then yes. (ZFS is software RAID isn't?)
might work in Hardware raid if changing to same company hardware but I'm not sure

Yeah, that's exactly why I went zfs rather than hardware raid (and not wanting to buy 16 port raid cards..).

Now to wait until payday to buy new hardware. Ah well.

    Cheers for the response man.

    Viagra?

Seriously though, you should be fine changing the underlying hardware, had to do that with my free nas before, although only across two drives.
