    Howdy

Just cancelled SKY and wondering can I use the SKY dish with a freeSAT box all ok?

I have a freeview aerial but signal isn't that great and might need a new one

    Thanks

Yep, that's what I'm doing right now. Works perfectly for me.

Your sky box will turn into a very good freesat box when your subscription runs out.

FreeSat is pretty decent, but make sure you get a good set top box. The low-end Grundig one really is low-end...

if you don't need PVR functions your skybox is as good as any cheap free sat box you just need to leave your viewing card in.

To get the full service (Channel 4 and Channel 5), remember to contact Sky for a freesat viewing card - cant remember the cost but it's minimal.

The viewing card used for the subscription will do, no need to order another one.

I'm not sure about the sky box making a goo freesat box. The menu is full of sky channels you can't watch. Its just annoying. I'd just go for a dedicated freesat box

^What he said. My Dad has an old Sky box and ~90% of the channels are just a blue screen essentially; whether you can program the box to skip these channels like you can on a normal box is another question..

Cheers, think I'll contact the old Freeview box for the PVR function whilst I look for a new Freesat box
