Okay Chaps, I'm sure there's something out there that will do what I want, I just can't find the right terms to pump into google. I have a Pinnacle 500-USB video capture device. What I want to do is view/hear the input to this (and make it fullscreen ) I don't need to record, I don't need to stream it to anywhere, I just want to see it. Needs to be freeware too! Thanks in Advance.
Well, video capture devices sometimes have their own proprietary software that uses special decoding. The disc that comes with it includes the decoder, but to my knowledge, there is very little available for even fully licensed capture devices. Try looking for something about "video capture decoder" etc. That's about the most I can help. Good luck!
Yep, as long as you have drivers installed. Just goto "Open Capture Device" on the file menu. You may have to click the refresh buton to get your card to show up in the list.
Make sure your drivers are installed, then you should be able to use VLC. As far as completely "free" drivers, that will likely be impossible, but once the drivers are installed VLC should see it. Note the "refresh" part of my post above. Let us know, William
Drivers are all installed correctly - got them direct from pinnacle's site. Tried refreshing, tried restarting. Looks like it's a no-go. Cheers though.
I spent soooo long trying to do this. There are loads of programs, but freeware seems to be hard to come by.
Seems your not the only one with the problem: From the VLC Forums- http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=47033&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a:
I didn't do anything different, but it's started working in VLC - Hooray! Maybe it just needed two reboots?
I was sooo close, I got a couple problems using vlc player, the first problem is I can't align the hue with the video, I've tried, tit's impossible, the second problem I have is a 2 second delay during play back, if I remove that delay then there's no sound, please help. thanks Yanisin
