    Hi all,
We're trying to set up a long range (3.5km) 2.4ghz wifi link, and am getting thoroughly  with all the regs with power/EIRP/gain etc.

We have 2 x 20.5dbi grids, and 2 x 500mW max 2.4ghz amps. Does anyone know what the maximum power we can set the system to (it's not variable gain, so the power output of the wifi units will have to be changed)?

have searched all over the internet, but can't find a noobs guide for it all (different sources all suggest differing levels). And dBi/dBm - what's the difference?

    Thanks for any help!

I remember reading somewhere that unless you have a licence you can have a maximum of 500mW going to a maximum of 6dBi gain antenna system (after you have delt with the cable loss)

I shall endevor to find the links. but I think it was over atFRARS somewhere.
