I have a Sound Blaster live! 5.1 sound card. My case has front audio ports. My motherboard has onboard sound. On my board there are places for front audio, but I don't see any of that on my sound blaster card... I tried hooking the front audio onto the mobo and only the head phones port worked. No microphone. It also made my sub stop working on my regular speakers. I had to unplug the front audio from the mobo to get it to work again.... I was wondering...where in the hell do I plug in my front audio? I dont get it.

I'm taking it from your post that your front audio ports don't have the typical "headphone style" plugs (yeh, i had a brain fart and forgot what they were called ;-)). If this is so, then I would look on your SB Live to see if they have pinouts for external jacks. To be honest, I don't remember if mine did or not. If they don't, I would just simply connect a "headphone style" plug to the wires coming from your front audio ports. Then run them through an empty PCI slot to the back of the case, and plug them into your sound card.

(to be honest, I would probably do this anyway so that I could tidy up the cables and have modularity)

Well it's normal ports. I have a headphone port and mic port which turn into single pin connectors and connect to either the sound card or mobo. On the back of my sound card I can connect a mic, but for the headphone part of the mic to work I'd have to unplug my speakers, which I don't want to do. It's a pain :p

you could try running a splitter between the headphones and speakers.
