ok - i'm not a total n00b but i think i've missed out a point or two along the way :\

FSB - front side bus (what is it?)

also my athlon 1.2 is overclocked to 1.333 underneath the option i had to make it this speed is another thing called FSB Multiplier...range of 0-28 what would i be doing if i increased this number?

There are three controls you probably have (I'm guessing you've got an Abit board there).

    1) FSB speed.
    2) CPU Multiplier
    3) CPU FSB Plus

    1) This typically can be set to 100 or 133, or possibly a variety of intermediate settings.
    2) This controls the speed of the CPU. It is a multiplier of the FSB. EG, if this is set to 10, on a 133 FSB, you get a 1333 CPU (it's not exaclty 133, obviously).
    3) This allows you to fine tune the FSB. EG set FSB to 133, and CPU FSB Plus to 4, and you've changed the FSB to 137
