I have WS FTP. It works on my internet gateway, but not on my main machine. Both coppies are exactly the same, as I coppied it from my main machine to the gateway. It has worked untill the 22nd when it gave me a connection refused error.

There are only two things that I can think the problem could be. First that there is a virius or registry key that is stopping the program from working. (malicious or by the program's design) Second that the program has stopped working through my network. I think that this is unlikely because Opera and windows networking still work.

Have you tried a different FTP program? It should work since its the same on both machines, but its worth a shot. You don't have a firewall or anything do you?

I just tried FTP commander, it gave the error message:

500 Connection refused (Winsock error #10061)

It might be my network, but I don't know what could be the cause. :(

if your using windows xp then you dont really need an ftp program, i just type my ftp address straight into the taskbar and drag and drop files as you would do in any folder.

It's a small corperate website, the root (http://www.martlen.com) auto redirects to the Index.html page. Without an FTP prog I can't get into the root folder.

If the host is refusing the connection then that usually means FTP is not running on the host, or is not accepting connections on :21 from your IP.
