This is by far the best disaster mod ever. what a moron! i guess some people just dont have what it takes to be geek `P2D
I thought the "are you sure you know what your talking about?" referred to this story in particular, and the answer to that is; No, I don’t know because I wasn't there. But, oh shock! It was in fact a put down? I can see from the fact that you even found these forums and have posted 1875 times, that you are not a complete novice. That was only after somebody with the same first impression as myself challenged him on the point. Smells like ******** to me.
to clarify, as this post has been dragged back fom death. if you look at my profile you will notice that i am actually studying computer engineering, the computer sales job is something i do on weekends to get some beer money. to me a cpu and motherboard IS basicly a new computer, they combined are easily the most expensive components in the machine, and remember that i was talking to a family of noobs. if i starting talking about gettting new cpu, motherboard etc, they would have had no idea what i was talking about. it is easy to say "new computer" then to give them a piece by piece breakdown of the machine status. (as was obvious when the cpu was described to me as "that thing with the fan on it") either way they were friends of ours, so no, i didn't rip them off. i have seen some other tragic results from idiots tinkering with their machines. wost of all are pepole who have a little bit of a clue and think they can change anything they want. one guy came in with a machine and bitched about certain devices not working. it turned out that he had read in a mag about using msconfig to speed up boot time, by disabling unused services. he had gone in and unchecked almost everything. the wosrt of all are the nvida cards that come with the overclocking utility. it is installed in the system tray and any idiot can change the cpu and ram clock speed (in about 3 mouse clicks). one guy (having no idea about the utility) turned everything right up and then wondered why the screen didnt work. i don't want to know how hot the gpu was getting, but i dare say it was fairly toasty studying computer engineering and currently going through my MCSE, i really get a laugh out of what even component network techs get wrong. but for anyone serious about designing technology, it is very good experience to work in a computer store or something similar. it makes you realise just how inexperienced most users are. there is no point designing something if only the technological elite are able to use it. remember that only a small percentage of users have the knowledge that most of us on these forums have no matter how much you study in this field there is always someone who knows the system better than you. and by the way, to the guy who said i was ripping them off, i did in actual fact rebuild their machine for free, and give them a new case for free, just because they were friends.
Tip: use a mechanical pencil with no graphite in it to bend the pins back. If any pins break off a really expensive CPU it's worth going to Motherboardrepair .
thats not necessacerily (*spelling?*) true....my GFX card cost more than my mobo, processer, ram (only 512 at them time), dvd-rw and dvd-rom put together (this is my sig rig)
Wow, poor old guy just couldn't wait. You've gotta feel bad for him. But on the other hand, He shouldn't have just started going around inside his PC without knowing what he was doing. He got what was coming to him.
