no need for one.
usb pen drives and/or bootable cds make them pretty much useless these days
At least READ the updates first.. He's stealthing both mobo and PCI cards.. its been begged for more description extensively.. but it looks like we'll all have to wait.
I've been programming alot of LCD's recently and i'm aware of a subscript '3' you could use to make the above screen look a bit schweeter. i think the byte is '10101110', not sure if its the same for the Matrix Orbital VFD but it might be worth a-look.
Keep up the ****ing amazing work
Heh, yes, this was done in haste just before putting out the update. I haven't had time to sit down with LCDC and work these things out so it's an 80% solution done just for the photo.
You are right, it's definitely worth a look - thanks for the info
Hey G-gnome, I've got a quick question. About how many hours of work (not including supply trips) would you say you have put into this beautiful beast? just curious
That's a good question kiljoi
I'm not sure exactly as I haven't been keeping count. At least 150 to date I would say (not counting supply trips). Possibly a lot more but I haven't kept a track.
Don't forget also that it's my first mod and I have been going slow with most parts as I have been generally learning, experimenting, correcting mistakes, changing my mind and remaking things, etc. A liesurely pace with the odd all-night burst of frenetic activity.
cant get over the fact that its ur first
Its all in excessive planning. He did a great job of planning it all out.
BTW, G-Gnome. Thanks for the tips on the shower hose.
Got it cut and got the rubber hose out.
Also, I am able to fit all the ATX wires through one hose.
What Camera are you using?
The pics are really good and detailed.
And yet more attention for your masterpiece G-gnome
OK, OK, I've been lurking around reading this amazing log for weeks now and I finally decided to join in the copious chorus of crazed praises. WOW! Job well done. Your ability to meticulously plan every detail and follow through with precision and determination is surpassed only by your creativity. In the end, what sets you a step above the average modder is creativity and drive.
For fuzzydice, just to save G-gnome more of his precious modding time, he responded to that question a while back here,
Patiently awaiting the next update. I guess I could actually go and do some homework in the meantime.
It shouldn't be too hard to make the "³" with a custom character in LCDC, if that's what you're using.
I was just going over the pics, Might I ask what you are hiding in that black cloth?
DETN8R - Just the ends of the cables. It tidied it up for the photo and gave a better idea of what the front of the case will look like in the finished case (once all the cables are plugged in).
Ouija - Thanks for that I am using LCDC and will look into the custom characters/screens. Cheers.
PolymerTim - Welcome to the forums Thanks for answering that question for me. I like it when people who have read the thread help point others to the answers to their questions. You are right, time is precious to me.
BadOldMan - Thanks for the link mate (I am a subscriber to the mag) I tried to register for the forum there but the 'confirm rego' screen just sat there and wouldn't...um...confirm my rego (I tried several times during the day) so I gave it up. I hope to submit the case to HBOTM when its done (has been a goal since I started planning it way back). Nice comments in there, a pleasant surprise.
fuzzydice - Welcome dude!
jskinner123 - Yes, first mod The next one will hopefully be better...
just a quick Idea.
Why didnt you just use the shower hose for the watercooling?
That would have looked cool.
Could you answer my question, or if it has been answered, could you point me to it?
The question was answered a few posts back by PolymerTim.
DETN8R - I wanted a 1/2" ID system - the shower hose is 1/4"ID, too small for my purposes. Would look nice, but I have plans for my hoses...
Someone mentioned a while back that we should keep count of all the jaw-dropper dudes in this thread. In yet another effort to avoid homework, I decided to zone out for a while and do some counting. Here's my tally from the two project threads. (In case you're curious these include smilies from G-gnomes posts as well, but not any that are contained in quotes or sigs).
127 (Including 3 manually enlarged)
Also found were a few customs:
You ever considered adding a cold cathode down the middle of your reservoir? I found a pic of someone who did it and it looks badass. Just a suggestion, keep up the great work.
sorry for the cut/paste
