Isn't current DDR4 equal to but not not faster than DDR3? Meaning paying more for the same performance or less? I wonder where DDR1 would be now if we could produce it on todays die shrink - 2-2-2-6 @ 1600mhz ddr1 @ 1.2v has potential doesn't it? Is Skylake going to be exclusive ddr4? I worry that by the time DDR4 is generally faster than DDR3 (for the games and application average Joe runs) that Skylake will be superceded? The summary of which won't be faster than DDR3 for this platform, which essentially means buying new ram for no reason other than 'you have to'.
