I used 5 minute Devcon epoxy to glue a Lexan window to my case. I mixed the epoxy on the case, instead of in a seperate container. (Maybe that's where I went wrong?) After 4 days of waiting, some of the epoxy has cured but most of it remains gooey. :eeek: I can't take the lexan off because it is partially held by the epoxy that did harden. Any ideas what I can do?

    ....ehhhhh

    maybe you could...

...wait some more days.... or weeks!

seriously, if it's not fully cured already and some place are... wait to see the rest cure.

    don't know much about epoxy...

:eeek: Erk - shouldn't take that long!

Sounds as if you didn't mix the epoxy enough - the bits that have set have got enough hardner in it, and the bits that haven't, Haven't.

    When mixing this stuff:

    - Use a clean container
    - Use equal amounts of resin and hardner
    - Mix thoughly

Best way to mesure equal amounts (if they're in squeezy tubes) is to squeeze out a line of hardner, and match the length with resin.

As for what you can do to sort it out:

Epoxy is quite brital. You should be able to 'pop' the window off it, and then scrape the cured epoxy of the case. The uncured stuff should come off with a rag, but you may need some cleaner to remove the residue (Nail polish remover? not sure)

You may need a new piece of plexi / lexan / whatever for the window though.

    Good Luck!

    Start over

With epoxy, if it does not cure relatively quickly it will not.

Part of the curing process uses heat that is produced by mixing the two parts together. If the mixture of chemicals is not right, there will not be enough heat created to finish the reaction.

I would buy some cheap clear "pill cups" to mix your epoxy in. You usually get a couple of dozen for a couple of bucks. I buy mine from hobby stores or pharmacies.

Bummer deal, better luck next time.

Alright, so I removed most of the epoxy from the lexan and case. There is still a large glob of epoxy on the lexan that won't come off. Can I reuse the lexan or do I need to cut another one?
