Contrary to reports that are springing up around the web, Gainward UK are not going in to liquidation. The message that appears on Gainward.co.uk is merely a placeholder relating back to a legal wrangle with their old hosts.

It was initially thought that the mix up was related to the recent take over by Palit. However, if you read through the press release quoted in that article, you will see that there are new UK offices set to be opened in Windsor, near London. Gainward UK's previous offices were located in Reading, as is shown as part of the placeholder for Gainward.co.uk.

In related news, Gainward officially announced their PowerPack! Ultra/2800 PCX “Golden Sample” video card - the GeForce 6800 Ultra that will feature 512MB of local frame buffer.

Here is a snip from the press release:

Gainward Co., Ltd., the leading manufacturer of high performance 3D graphics and home entertainment accelerators, announces that it will be first to market with the world’s most powerful 3D graphics processor board configuration for the PCI-E bus integrating two 512MB water-cooled NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra boards running in SLI mode to be exhibited at CeBIT 2005.

Each of the two Gainward CoolFX PowerPack! Ultra/2800 PCX “Golden Sample” 3D processor boards features a hand selected GeForce 6800 Ultra GPU running at 450Plus MHz core clock, 512 MB of carefully qualified 1.2 GHz DDR3, video-out, dual DVI for best visual display quality, plus integrated Gainward CoolFX water cooling jointly developed and manufactured with “innovatek”.

The Gainward CoolFX PowerPack! Ultra/2800 PCX “Golden Sample” can also work “SLI-ready” as a single slot configuration to be upgraded with a second board for SLI operation later.

The Gainward CoolFX PowerPack! Ultra/2800 PCX “Golden Sample” is available in late March 2005 through Gainward’s worldwide distribution and retail network. A lower cost 512MB version with high-Performance-CopperCooling, the Gainward PowerPack! Ultra/2800 PCX “Golden Sample” will also be available.

We expect the card to look just like the one in our sneak peek earlier this week, but it will not use the standard GeForce 6800 Ultra cooler. The card will use the same CoolFX SLI cooling solution that was discussed not too long ago.
