I've been playing some VVVVVV lately and the soundtrack to that game is awesome! Just watching this video makes me want to go play it again.
I absolutely love that one. The opening cutscene to that game is just fantastic. Here's mine: This one also happens to be the best fan-made video you will ever see.
Still my fave C&C song: I love this song, and every time it finishes I want to re-live the Air Piratey goodness all over again! (The Main Theme is also great) The Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix soundtrack has some good tunes, and best of all can be downloaded free at http://ocremix.org/info/OC_ReMix:_Super_Street_Fighter_II_Turbo_HD_Remix_Official_Soundtrack And finally one from Jet Set Radio, which has a varied selection of music unlike just about anything else I've heard.
+1 , though I prefer the version from the credits with Shodan talking. Eric Brosius (1:41) did a great job (he also did music for Thief & Terra Nova)
IMHO these first two are some of the best songs I've ever heard that were written for games. Both written by quite accomplished composers. They are so emotional though, I don't listen to them outside of the games. And this last one is just one I remember that I really liked and I have it on my iphone. I listen to it when I'm working on something in the garage. It's a great song to work to, helps focus. It's definitely UT, I don't know the name of the song though.
I can't see You tube in work so I'll edit in the videos later (if I can find them) Some old school ones: "The Game" from the 7th Guest The First Level in Turrican (prefer the Atari ST version, however couldn't find a video without someone talking over it for the ST version) Shadow Warriors Intro (the 1st 35 seconds hauntingly brilliant) Again from the Atari ST. The Amiga version had better sound but it just doesn't sound as good. X-Out Intro (Atari ST) Ryu's stage from Streetfighter (we should all know how that sounds, here's a fun version) Killer Instinct Intro Xenon 2 - Megablast
It sounds similar to many of the tracks on UT99, but is not any of them. Particularly similar to this one: Skip to 00:38. That's just metal for you, though, there are only so many original bass melodies. It all gets recycled eventually, sometimes knowingly, oftentimes not. edit - also, I love UT99.
It's definitely UT, but I think it's Unreal Tournament 2004 which is the only UT game I played for a long time. I usually only played Onslought but I did occasionally do straight deathmatch so it could be from either. You should post it on the UT forum, I bet someone will know instantly. I recognised it straight away.
What's even cooler is that Eric's wife Terri Brosius was the voice of SHODAN and that both of them were in the band Tribe before they got into game audio! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terri_Brosius I'm a big fan of Eric Brosius' work. I could listen to the Thief: Deadly Shadows soundtrack on repeat for hours despite (or because of) it being more atmospheric and electro-acoustic than typically musical.
This takes me back, the breakdown at 2:40 still makes my hair stand on end. I've been listening to the Black Ops soundtrack a lot at the moment as well: Surely this counts?
Colin McRae 2 on Playstation And, dunno if this qualifies, but the mashup that was done for the BF2 Project Reality mod v 0.5 is sooo much better than the two songs on their own that it was mashed up from Why does this not show the link previews?
I may be a little biased because my mate wrote it And I also secretly love this little ditty from carmageddon
