This has got to be my favourite.. Totems of the Grizzlemaw from World of Warcraft. Listening to this music whilst watching wild mustangs run around in front of you, was a bit of a "movie moment" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNd4WYmj9WI
I'm surprised I missed this thread. Thanks to whoever bumped it. I'm also pleasantly surprised at all the love UT99 got and, as much as I love this game (you should all know this by now), I believe there is one game that has superior music I actually have about 30 MegaMan songs in my ZuneHD. Not kidding. I have a smile whenever one randomly plays
Too many to pick from I'll go with these three for now... Actraiser - Filmore (Symphonic) And some of my all time favourite music from Arcade games: Afterburner - Red Out Outrun - Magical Sound Shower
i like the soundtrack (ok only 3 songs but still...) from Shattered Horizon, you can download it http://shatteredhorizon.com/media/soundtrack/
Coincidentally it was only earlier today I wondered why someone hasn't created a topic on game music but lo and behold here it is! The music which spurred this thought is "forever" from Rome Total War, a song I sometimes play in the car or while on the PC: I'm amazed how much effort goes into game music much of which doesn't get the recognition it deserves. The same goes with game trailers, some are real gems to watch and far more entertaining than many film trailers.
Nothing can beat the hell march Say what you want, but Frank Klepacki's work on the early C&C games is quite epic. Got all of them on HDD, they are WIN and are regularly on my playlist. I wasn't much amused by the newer stuff, though... Dragon age had some nice melodies, violin solo's from fallout 3's radio made me cry at one point, Civilization 4 & 5 have some lovely melodies as well.
