Anyone know what gets supplied by the game port? im having a good go at my joystick if u must know (oooh matron!) i'll of course show y'all if i manage to get it done, just need to know if the LEDs will share power with the stick or need more. Thanks, hope someone can help. :cries:
according to one of the useful links the power is 5v and its connected directly to the power supply via soundcard and motherboard tracks so dont short it cos it will burn the tracks out (i put a rcb on mine so will find it more difficult to fry) u can draw over 20 amps thru it if yr mother board or soundcard dont die 1st hope this helps pies
not too sure what the r's for but the cb is circuit breaker amoung numerous things the r could be residual or resettable er rancid erm erm roger ne ways it cuts the power out if u try to draw too much current thru it then resets when u torn the power off completely (afaik) so i put a 3A one (the smallest i could find) on the game port power so i would hopefully not damage my motherboard if ne of my circuitry went wrong but ive never had to test it so far . . .
most helpful do u know if enermax psus have these circuit breaker doodies in em? cos i sparked an inverter on my case chassis today at which point the PC died. I was scared witless, until i pressed "on" and it werked
yeah i think they do and my antek one does (tested that by accident too) and my sparkle one has aswell (tested by cutting wire on top of casw with craft knife forgot the other end of the wire was at 12 v DOH) all of em still work
yeah but i was downloading a big file on *cough*kazaa*cough and didnt want to stop as i was getting a good transfer rate so now i cut wires on my desk not on my case
