Instagib basically overpowers the rail gun so that its a guaranteed one shot kill. This mode requires dead on aim because you won't get a second shot.

Someone can back me up here, I believe its a server side mod only? so you just search for a server running it.

BTW, on a side note. I'm a dad too (6, 9, and 11 year olds) and I'm glad to see you supporting your son like this..online, gaming, etc. I see alot of dads that don't. They treat the 'net like its a game and not something their kids should be taking part in, except for a few minutes a day. I look at it as a life buiding exercise...I think how much the world has changed in the last 30 years thanks to computers and realize my kids need to be on top of it to stay ahead.

Besides, my kids will be kicking my butt soon if I dont keep the skills honed.

    For CS

    1) Get PODBots

    2) Start a 32 player LAN game

    3) Add 30 bots to the other team

    4) Turn Jason Mode on (knives only)

    5) Buy a Colt/AK with no extra ammo (so you have 30 bullets).

    6) Make sure you kill every bot and it will HAVE to be 1 headshot per enemy.

I find this helps train aim and reaction speed, as if you're not quick, you get mobbed and knifed to death :p

if you have any of the unreal tournament games you can start your own server with it turned on and play against bots.

Basically, if you get shot once your body flys in several different directions :D

Always play above your level; unless money is involved. :D

Yeah, does anyone actually play for cash/prizes?

i found quake to be the easyest FPS game i played.

when i was at college i used to visit my local LAN arean inbetween lectures. at £5 for 3 hours of gameplay it wasnt bad.

and i used to get rapped at CS. but then id flip it to halo/quake and UT2003 and compleatly kick ass.

i find with the unrealistic games you dont have to be as accurate. a shot in the nads hurts as much as a shot in the head. where as in Cs a shot in the nads will take about 30% health and a headshot = instant death.

a tip with UT try and find the Big F***Off Gun (BFG) and double damage. you will own till you die. all kills are single shot. and you are practicly invincable for about 20 secconds of the game till double damge wares off.

It's really cool to see you Father's on here. I've gotten my dad involved in games but he's still won't go online to play, so he plays against bots. Some of his fav's are HL and Ghost Recon. Anyway I want to be pass my enjoyment of gaming on to my son too! He's only 3 mos old, but I'm already exposing him and he seems to like the colors and action of UT2K4,
Just keep practicing and keep playing!

Mm sponsored by myself :D and have been to a few lans. problem is, no-one 1v1's in anything but Halo these days (which I won last time, free mx510, ty :D). And since its all teams, it's hard to compete for decent prizes with decent teams. I can give a couple of Team AMD Gamers (TAG) COD team a run for their money (I play with TAG . kb now and then), Halo, I was in ex UK number one Clan, periculum, um, CS, don't have the drive or time needed :)

I agree that it can be VERY hard to go between some different FPS style games. Your accuracy and response times will still be there, but many of these games have vastly different ways to play. Example: I've got a buddy who's bloody spectacular at quake 3, plays it non-stop. At most recent lan when we start firing up rainbow six 3, he starts talking about how he's going to own us all. His was the first body to hit the ground in almost every round. Same with BF, Delta Force, and other similar games. Why is this you ask? Cuz in Quake he had perfected the "run and gun" style of gameplay, where he would simply charge through the field, dodging most fire, taking some in the chest, and blowing everything up with the biggest gun he had. However, put him in a game where you need, slow, planned movements, and any1 can be killed in 1 or 2 shots with any weapon if the attack is coordinated properly, and his style of gameplay just doesn't work. You can transition, but normally people who get into the CS/Rainbow style of gameplay don't have as much fun with the "twitch" shooters, and vice versa.

On the other side of the coin, it's good to see some dad's getting into the great sport of gaming. My dad can barely get online. :sigh: My 12 year old sister is starting to get fairly decent at UT2k4 tho :D

Low mouse sensitivity and a fairly large area to move the mouse in perhaps.

play maps by yourself to learn the game. Then ask if your online if you can not use a weapon. Then try to survive a few time without dying. Me and my friend use to do this on TO and Medal of Honor. We wouldn't use weapons for a few maps to get our movements down and ducking and such. Then just use weapons that have a single shot. This is mainly for gettin accuracy up. I find that when I limit myself to single shots it makes me value each shot a little more then just spraying auto fire at someone. When you get fairl accurate with it then start using auto's and learn from them. You will start to learn the exact recoil and were to aim. Usually when you get good at 1 first person shooter.

If you're playing flying games, playing on your own always helps. I've been playing Battlefield Vietnam alot lately. I started creating my own games and flying the choppers around. I'm now an ace. I just scored 58 w/ 5 deaths, and the next highest score in the game was 27 w/ 19 deaths. I'm so proud of myself. :D
