Hi guys. I've got a gamecube here that is kinda b0rked the laser in it wont read discs. I've read some websites and i took it apart to change the laser sensativity but it still doesnt work?. Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix it or what i can use the gamecube for i bought it for £10 so it must have some use.
I think that I saw some spare lasers etc for it (probably lik-sang.com) but I could be wrong. sadly the cube is a little small for an ITX board :/ you could make a nice potted plant holder from it.
im sure it cant be too much to get repaired from nintendo or maybe just buy a spare part from somewhere and fix it yourself and it is probably too small to fit a ultra-sff mobo in lunchbox maybe?? edit: ahhhh beat me to it
the lasers are £32 on their own plus the £10 for the broken one thats £42 i can get 1 new for that. Also nintendo wont take it back cause the top got scratched with sand paper. :/
£42 is pretty steep for a repair that may not even work especially when you can buy a working 2nd hand gamecube for another £20 or so you could gut it and sell it on ebay for spares maybe
im sure there a billion things you could use the case for just need a bit of imagination and a lot of free time
confirmed these details. :- cd spins laser (red thingy works) laser still moves doesnt recognise disc says please insert disc all help greatly appreciated.
My Gamecube does the same thing - it started off as an intermittent problem, and then got more and more frequent until the damn thing stopped working altogether. I have resigned myself to just buying a new one - once you factor in the extra controller and a bundled game it doesn't really cost that much.
im getting worried now is this a widespread problem with the GC? i couldnt bear to miss out on precious monkey-ball time
yes it is actually a wide spread problem and nintendo know this. heres the website i got info from. http://pub94.ezboard.com/fgameconsolerepairforumfrm5?page=2 some people are saying go to electronics boutique and they will give me price reduction but eb dont exist anymore.
ahh thats just the site i was looking for, but completely forgot the name!! thanks so much im hopefully working on modding a cube soon, to go with my zelda pc case hehe
