Hi, I've just about sorted my PC to switch from 360 to PC gaming and wondered if anybody has any suggestions for games to help me make the switch? I play mostly FPS on my 360 (MW2, BC2, etc).
BFBC2 for now. BF3 in 2 month's time. BF4 in 5 year's time. need i go on? also Deus Ex, Skyrim, Bioshock, Batman AC, and Crysis. can't forget Crysis.
Try MW2 or BC2 multi-player with a mouse and then wonder how you ever turned using a joypad. Then look at the single-player versions and you'll realise they are tuned for consoles because you don't actually have to turn quickly. I'd say have a look at World of Tanks because it's basically free to play, to start with. If you want to progress beyond level 3, then a premium account is needed but it's a good place to start. Also, get Steam and have a look the ftp games there.
Why have none of you mentioned Half Life 2!? Sure the consoles had the Orange Box but it would have sucked on a joypad. Bring out the keyboard and mouse, close up screen and some decent headphones. I also suggest Command & Conquer, but stay away from C&C4 because it's atrocious.
Thanks for the input guys. I'll have a look at some of the PC exclusives but also see if I can pick up one or two of the games I've played on the 360 for a good price to ease me in.
Totally agree - in my humble opinion the best FPS ever created - play all three games in the HL2 series and you'll wonder why nobody told you about it before.
Ad the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series to the list, one of the most atmospheric games around particularly the first in the series SOC.
Besides the ones mentioned, I have a list of games which I think would be really good for you. You can look them up on google and decide which one(s) to get: Portal, World of Goo, Mass Effect 2, Supreme Commander 2, Shift 2 Unleashed, Bioshock, World in Conflict, Worms Reloaded, Tropico 4 (due very soon), and of course... Skyrim! (due in a few months). p.s. I forgot one, "Magicka".
This could turn into a massive thread, there are so many games which could be suggested to you for new purchases it's unreal. As suggested already for FPS' Bad Company 2, Crysis and the Half Life series (Maybe even Left 4 Dead). Plus for actual war sims (which you don't really get on consoles) check out ARMA 2. Also as a new PC gamer I suggest you check out RTS' (Real Time Strategies) as these shine on the PC, to name a few there are Sins of a Solar Empire, any game in the Total War series (Shogun 2 is the latest), Company of Heroes. Looking at the replies above every suggestion is pretty much worth your time as a gamer, plus there are a ton of new releases coming out soon as well. ... working full time sucks
I've bought BC2. ARMA 2 really appeals to me as I used to love the Ghost Recon/Operation Falshpoint games so an extension of those would be great. I'll also look through the rest and see when I can get them for a decent price through Steam or in shops/online stores.
