So, Mass Effect completely restored my faith in gaming but I've been out of the loop for so long I don't know what *anything* is. Any suggestions of games that feature a strong story line? Doesn't have to be a shooter. Thanks!
The Witcher (1+2) Dragon Age + Origins Darksiders The Chronicles of Riddick (Both) Dead Space (1+2) The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Fallout 3 Metro 2033 Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (not the 2nd, ignore that!) Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
That's what I was going to say I can personally vouch for Fallout 3 - Great game Metro 2033 - Good game, too scary/tense for me, the new "will it run Crysis" Mass Effect 2 - Got it for free not expecting much, I really like it Fallout New Vegas - Solid game, IMO FO3 was better BioShock - Haven't played it a ton but it's decent BTW if you can pick up BFBC2 for cheap, I'd highly recommend it (favorite game I've ever played)
Thanks for the tips chaps. I will certainly check some of these out and oh don't worry. ME2 is most definitely on the list! I've started saving for a super massive new awesomeo system for when ME3 comes out
Its a close one for me. IMO I find New Vegas better from a "sandbox" POV. Also the rep system in NV is far more visible, so you actually get a sense of progress when doing side quests for a ceratin faction. FO3's end fight is WAY better though...
I must admit, even though I recommended Fallout 3 for the story and everything, I found it very difficult to actually play. Twice I played from the start, both times getting to the first town that you come across when you come out of the vault, and both times I found myself ENDLESSLY bored! I know it's a good game. I know I should like it, but I just find myself being very bored by it all.
So quick question. I think I've asked this before but I forget. If I buy ME2 on CD, I can still import the save game right? What's the thing about adding a none steam game to steam? <-- noob.
Yea that's exactly what I did, I bought ME1 through Steam and ME2 on disc. When you load up ME2 you can browse for previous saves from ME1. It looks for certain files created by the game regardless of whether it's a Steam version or not and import that character. To add a non-steam game, go to your library tab, at the bottom of the window there should be an "add non-steam game" button. Just click this and browse to the location of your ME2 launcher.
Jacob is Badass! He's my new Ashley. I didn't sleep with her either! Also, if that damn machine calls me Shepherd and not Commander one more time I'm going to stab it in the face!
btw you won't need an amazing new system for ME3, afaik it will be running on the same (or slightly updated) UE3 engine from Mass Effect 2.
Yeah but I'm planning on a supero upgrade soon anyway. I figure I might as well wait for IB and Bulldozer plus the new GPUs to be out before I do it and build the PC of my dreams Why is no one showing me respect damn it! I'm Commander Ash "Psycho" Shepherd! That Jacob fellow is the only one who knows how to treat a hero.
Which class are you playing? I started ME2 with Infiltrator and an a level ~15, I'm not going to finish ME2 just yet (ME1 is downloading right now) so what's fun? I've watched a couple clips and Adept seems cool but so does soldier (shotties Cheesecake) so I was wondering what you were going thought as
I started ME2 again as a Vanguard after playing through ME1 and ME2 with my soldier shepherd. Charge and Shotty is so much fun give it a blast!
I'm playing Solider. I have to say, I am so far extremely disappointed in ME2. The conversations are smoother and better but aside from that I'm just not really enjoying the story. I'm only just about to go through Omega 4 though so maybe it will get better. I'm also not enojying the combat. It feels as though a bunch of Xboxers went "wah wah wah too complicated with a control pad" and bioware jumped. Yeah it took a little while to get used to the upgrade system and weapons choices/upgrades in ME1 but once you did that's in part what made it so awesome. The dialogue with Spoiler Joker is genuinely hilarious though. It was a nice touch to bring him back, and the Archangel mission was a nice surprise as well. The biggest problem I have is the way the story is going, I don't want to leave the alliance damn it! The council wouldn't even meet me, I'm Shepherd, I'm a spectre god damn it! You're only on the damn council because I killed the last one saving the universe. I've just done the Horizon misson, I miss Ashley . EDIT: HA, Just had a conversation with Mordin about Kirrahe "Good captain, a bit over the top with his speeches, "HOLD THE LINE!". Good stuff
