Gaming Games to watch from E3 2010

New NFS looks very good, as does Crysis 2, Portal 2; the 40k MMO, Dead Space 2 (still haven't properly played the original), and maybe Metal Gear Solid (I've never played an MGS game before) could be worth picking up.

I just looked up Darksiders too, I'd never heard of it! Looks sort of like Prototype.

Star Wars The Old Republic is easily the best in show. Finally a MMO that's gonna make my wallet bleed.

They need a STALKER MMO.

 

Im looking forward Portal 2 and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Im somewhat looking forward to Crysis 2.

 

Crysis 2 looks decent, but I really hope they stay at least remotely close to killing people in that game, aliens just aren't fun to kill.

NFS:HP has my attention though, it looks sooo goood. And where's GT5?

 

Metal gear looks very promising but then again looks can be deceiving.

Was hoping to see C&C Generals 2 announced and also see how far R-Type 3D is in the works.

 

Quite depressing the only games that got any twinges from me are either multi-platform or console exclusives... now i'm selling the PC I might have to buy my first console since the GameCube. :S

 

I'm glad I'm not the only MMO virgin looking to get involved with one of these two.

Old republic should be good but I'd rather have seen game play footage. The 40k MMO will probably be over simplified and full of kids but I think I'd still be tempted by it.

Inquisition is where its gonna be at in my opinion, tho I'm sure you're right, most will play space marines. I wonder how they're gonna do it. There is such an imbalance in the 40K races when viewed as individuals but these are usually resolved by weight of or lack of numbers. They are going to have to include guard but its not like they can have you playing a single guardsman.

 

my thoughts exactly, a more generic alien shooter now, with corridor-like setting.

i want jungles! or real destructible environment if we are in urban setting, none of those glass shattering crap, real building destruction like in BFBC2. or go back to the jungles.

 

Old republic looks ace. Maybe the first mmo i pay for :O

 

After 25 years of PC/Console-gaming I can only ask: "Where's the new exciting ideas, or where's games that are actually fun to play and not just a remake of allready available titles in a new dress?"

Seriously... NFS HP? Erm.... NFS III:HP released '98 and NFSHP released in '02. And with GT5 to release at the same time, well yeah... good luck with that.

Portal 2, MGS:Rising, Dead Pace 2, Crysis 2: It's just the same stuff over and over again basically since Doom and TombRaider or whatever, just in another dress. Nothing really inpressive there, besides the graphical improvements. Action Adventures get pretty boring real fast and are just not worth the 50 bucks.

Fallout New Vegas? Oh c'mon, is that really a scrapbot there like in Borderlands?
Fallout 1 and 2 were great at their time, but Fallout 3 dind't hold true to these first two and I've no faith in Bethesda to get it right.

Warhammer 40k MMO could be really cool, but...
I've played 40k as a tabletop for years and I just can't imagine how they possibly can translate that into a MMO, without screwing up with the whole thing.
First it needs to be FFA PvP with all the factions available, and there needs to be something worth fighting over, like territorial warfare with ressources for example, that you can conquer for your guild etc, but that's not going to happen.
Second, how are they going to balance a game like this? Yeah, just a few classes and cookie-cutter-setups etc and WoW-tastic battlegrounds.... Nope, that won't be it...

So finally I look at SWTOR... the so-called WoW-killer.
Do you know why it's called a WoW-killer? Yes, exactly... because it's going to be just like WoW, just in the looks of Star Wars.
I've followed the development of this since day one, and I'm really disappointed, that they don't have the balls to do something new there.

Fortunately there's other games in development, that are not hyped like all the stuff mentioned there, which are going to be much more interesting, like Earthrise for example.

Also Metal Gear and Dead Space 2 look the business. Can't wait to see how they pan out. And Portal 2 will be simply epic. Ah some great games to look forward to.

 

Portal 2 is probably the main one i'm interested in. Crysis 2, i can't help thinking that a lot of compromises will have had to have been made to get it running on consoles. Had high hopes for the multiplayer on the new MOH game, however judging by the videos i've seen it looks a lot like BFBC2 'lite'. Fallout New Vegas is interesting.

Brink is probably the only other game that looks like it has potential.

 

I would put Shogun 2 total war in there too, right at the top!

If it says Total War the no matter what it is in my top list.

But honestly the SW:TOR looks way too much like a cartoon, the trailer is great but the pictures....
In my head SW:TOR should look much more like the trailer, gritty and violent, not some Tom&Jerry action.

But I wonder how they have made the controls.

 

I think it means that every class can get into the fight, instead of some classes being limited to a support-only role.

 

CAn't wait for Metal Gear it look ace and the ability to cut up buildings - how cool?

Also, does this Stereoscopic 3D mean that you wont need a 3D enabled monitor, just glasses?
