Started work on my Kranon, except he won't be Kranon because he'll be Black Legion, :D

Still plenty to do. Not sure on the blue yet, hopefully it'll look right when its done with some lighter highlights.

I always remember walking past the Games Workshop and it being full of gorms all round a huge table playing the game, all going ballistic over it lol!

Thanks Phil - It's the same approach I always take.

I still need to brown off the ends of the soot marks on the engine outlets, and make the engines detailing stand out a bit more (hence the red piping) before I'll be happy to call them finished, but they look a shitload better than they did before this attack of painting and building.

It is rather large >.> But, I'd rather a large base and be safe than a diddy one and watch the hawk crash into the table/ground >.>

Started a bit of weathering on the hawk, and put some stuff on the base to distract from how expansive it is:

Finally got my chaos codex today ... lovely stuff ...

Inspired me to push on with the Chosen leader and get the base finished with the sorcerer..

These 40k guys really take me out of my comfort zone... starting to get the hang of the gold edging...

Just roughing out the red cloak detailing at the moment... a nice blue glaze will help blend the layers on the blue cloak (the subtle blue layars are completely lost in this picture..) i always have the intention of wet blending the layers on heavily creased items such as the cloak but when it comes down to it the dry brush always wins... :hip:

    Looking nice, Phil.

Played a 15k game yesterday, we agreed on a 24" deployment zone, but I still ran out of space.. There were three more Land raiders that needed to go on >.>

    This was a couple of turns in;

    Lord looks great phil.

Can I ask what gold you've used for the edging, and what you've used for the horns?

Here's another progress shot of mine, not sure what colour to do the cape.

    Looks good Phil.

I've never seen so many tanks Lira, must be a crazy battle at 15k, most I've ever done is 1.5k.

Tyranids look good Cerb, look forward to seeing the finished Chaos.

All this Chaos makes me want to buy the Dark Vengence box.

Ooo gribbly 'nids, not seen any of them for a wee while. Liking that red on black for the plates.

Picked myself up a Maulerfiend today, just putting together the basic blocks of it before it gets Nurgled up, need to sort out some tentacley goodness for a few bits such as the tongue as well as get some pock marks which I need to experiment with first. So far I am thinking of going with some partially drilled holes followed by a good melty solvent to soften out the drill marks.

Standard Hive Fleet Kraken, although I need a new bright red paint as mine isn't that good, infact I could do with an entire new range of reds.

Should go well with my 3rd Company Ultramarines if I ever want to do an AoP board or something.

Miniature Heroes sells Reaper's Master Series paint:
    http://miniature-heroes.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=487_492_494&products_id=23081

Link goes directly to the Ochre Gold triad, which is unfortunately out of stock at the moment. :(
They seem to have a fairly good selection of the Master Series paints.

Never bought paints from them myself, though I have grabbed a few miniatures (Mouslings) off their site in the past and they've been quite quick for deliveries with no issues in the past.

It might be worth getting in touch with them to see when they think they'll get the triad back in stock, or if they can order it in for you.

I've asked my local hobby shop if they can get them, Phil. I don't recall seeing any reaper stuff there, but they get new stuff every week anyway.

Edit: They've asked their distributors ;)

Thanks Lira.. i've also asked for a stock update from the miniature heroes site.... by the way a bit of news on the personal front.. ive fallen foul of the latest round of redundancy's in work , got a letter in the post on Saturday... not bad news as far as i'm concerned as i think the place will fold soon anyway.... ive got to go in tomorrow for a final consultation but i should get about 12k in redundancy payouts... so im going to be a man of leisure for a while... once i get my cash a new camera is the first thing on my buy list (nothing more that 200 quid though) .... was thinking of the nikon s9300 , anyone got any recommendations ?...

That's unfortunate, Phil, but at least you'll get a payout instead of just no job.

As for the camera front, my lady has a Canon of some sort which is very nice, but a friend of mine is big into his cameras and wouldn't stray from Nikon for love nor money.

Anything more technical I couldn't comment on >.>

Right then, finally got the maulerfiend pretty much all built up and Nurglyfied:

Close up of the pitting (lots of shallow drill holes followed by a thin poly cement wash):

Close up of the goo I have added to the 'faces' on the exhaust stacks:

I am going to stipple a little more liquid green stuff onto the plates to get a bit more of the fuzzy rusted texture. The 3 pustules I made from 6mm BBs chopped in half and set into a bed of liquid green stuff, I went over them with some thin super glue and also plopped a dollop of it in the circle in the middle of the chaos star. Adding a drop of water to the wet glue made it harden waaaay too fast and gave it a cool texture, might repeat that in some other areas.
