The Kolinsky sable ones in the watercolour section are regarded as the top ones. The 'Eavy Metal brush you get in the edge paints and the Eavy Metal brush set are Kolinsky brushes. The ones from Rosemary and Co are a very good price for the quality of hair used especially as they are hand made.
i normally use sizes 2, 1 plus a very tiny one, possibly a 2/0 or even a 4/0. A larger one, maybe a 4, is very useful for washes.

Meh, can't really be to bothered about the LOTR or Hobbit stuff to be honest. Sure it's going to be nice to have a nosey at them but can't imagine I'll do much else.
The war of the ring rules and game is pretty fun to play- simple and stright foward etc. If the Hobbit sales as well as the Lotr did for GW, which it should as its going to be pretty massive then we will see even more improvements, alot of the current improvements are from that profit. I need to go through what brushes i have atm, proably just get 1 or 2 sable brushes for now.
Yeah. Colour me disinterested in the LOTR stuff. About the only thing I like about LOTR is the turn sequence. I mostly use 0, and size 1 I think it is. Might be size 2. in Winsor & Newton brushes, and the 'eavy metal standard and large brushes. I use a couple of unknown sizes for washes, a citadel detail for the oils/weathering powders, and the citadel drybrush range. I also made my own drybrush by cutting down the bristles of some humbrol (I believe it's palpo or something, the orange handled pack) for a softer dry brush that I mostly use with golds and the like.
Well all the Hobbit stuff is on the website- aside from the dwarfs and a few of the orc captians its not that impressive.
i've decided not to go any further with the 40k chaos stuff... Just in case anyones interested... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190760325170?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190760350361?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
I think "Very nicely painted" is an understatement, Phil. What changed your mind on the Chaos? I may have made a journey up to Nottingham and come away with a few bits and pieces;
i was just finding them a real a chore to paint .. i enjoyed the hellbrute but after that i lost inteterest.. doing the grimgore diorama reminded me why i prefer fantasy.. going to get another stonehorn kit soon and build up the thundertusk option..
It's a surprisingly straight forward build too. It'll be for the Templars, because my thunder hammers deserve a more fitting way to enter a battle than a land raider. I can understand exactly what you mean. I'm struggling with the ones for my local shop, and finding the will to put brush to them. I also picked up the heavy bolter set - Because they're a stunningly pretty way to make a four heavy bolter dev squad. They'll be going with a four las cannon squad, and a two heavy bolter two plasma cannon dev squad. Not sure I have enough (ten) heavy bolters in the death watch >.>
Anyone play 'crons? Bought a Barge and some Praetorians, but they're just sitting there unbuilt and unpainted if anyone's interested they're not box-perfect the praetorians box is missing a warscythe blade and the barge lord's weapon has been patched back together after a conversion didn't go as planned @lira - how do those resin Hvy Bolters work with the standard plastic marines... thinking of picking some up
The H. bolters and new autocannons do look awesome. Love the drum mags. hey RedFlames, did you get that envelope I sent to you?
Standard bolt gun arms - they just slot right on. The auto cannons look so much more awesome in person imo
