Such a shame - metal ones at least feel like they're worth money. Though apparently the new resin is better to paint on?

IMO, I can't wait for the metal ones to die. They've always been a pain to paint, as well as not being able to hold detail as well as resin.

Oh well, I suppose you can always put a little slab of depleted uranium in each model to give them some weight  .

Well I decided what I'm gona get to paint,

    Ordered the following :
    Box of dire avengers,
    standard brush,
    fine detail brush,
    small dry brush,
Still have loads of paints which are still liquid, so only need greys and reds.

Going for a white and red themed army. Wont be playing for a while just painting.

Just need to go and pick up a can of white spray and some plastic glue

Could give the plastic parts of Necron weaponry a real glow too :)

Resin (provided they're talking about the right kinds) is superior to metal in every way for models. A long time ago i made a F-117 from a full resin kit and the detail was astonishing.

My only hope is that they pass the savings on to us from it as well, but being GW i sincerely doubt it.

    balls,

I just won a Tyranid Battle Force on ebay, I bid on it, thinking someone else would bid more, but they didn't.

So I just won BattleForce new on sprues, with a Tyranid Prime Conversion, and some extra Rippers for £31.73.

    Oooops, :D

Problem is with the metal models you could strip paint off them with nail polisher remover and a toothbrush if someone had made a bad job of painting them. You try that with the plastics models and they melt.

Ah, but you can apparently use Fairy Power spray on plastic models.

Or if you can get hold of it, something called Green stuff.

apparently, I was looking into it just recently. Have a google.

I've not tried it yet as I've not got any spray. Takes a bit of soaking and scrubbing.

Rumour, according to my GW manager, is that the prices should go down when they switch to resin >.>

I'd be surprised if prices didn't go down if they switch to resin - it's so much cheaper to produce it's scary.

I've been expecting GW to give up with the terrible metal parts for a long time, the rest of the modelling world has shunned cast metal parts a long time ago, and for the better. Buy yourself a good Tamiya/Dragon model kit to see how resin can be done properly.

Games Workshop... lowering prices? Sounds oxymoronic ;)

But yep, hopefully they will lower the prices since it will work out a fair bit cheaper for them.

yes and on the day that happens the year will turn to 2012 the mayans will come back in city sized snake shaped spaceships accompanied by elvis who was actually one oftheir recon scouts at which point some bright spark at GWS will induce them as a new army to 40k in resin allied with chaos.

In other words I wouldn't hold your breath :)

Apparently sweat removes the GW paint too, keep rubbing the basecoat off things when I'm holding them, :D

Well, I've finished my Chaos Terminator Lord.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out, as usual the photos don't really do it justice, and once you get up close its not quite as good as the professionals ones.

Very proud of it, especially as I used to suck at doing the finer details.

Just got to finish all my troops to go with him, :D

    Looking good, man.

I can't quite see from this angle, but are those barrels drilled or painted?

I fail to see how it could be any worse to paint on but I agree, the metal ones had a nice heft to them that the cheap injection-moulded ones just don't.

Maybe I'll stick some lead in the bases, or something.
