On the one hand, what the **** is that.

On the other hand, how many toys accurately capture the utterly ****ing mental proportions of Space Marines and what is likely to be a **** show of a head?

@Almightyrastus @lilgoth89 @liratheal gentlemen, a quick question: what was the best stuff for removing acrylic paint from plastic models?

I have a couple of slightly converted Gravis marines that were my first attempts at drybrushing, and looking at them now, I want to start again!

I think AK make a paint remover, but I can never remember if it's AK or Mig that are kind of pricks. But that stuff will take paint off and leave plastic okay.

That said, I'm a 99% isopropyl alcohol person myself. I've never had too much issue misting even the most dainty models in IPA and going at them with a tooth brush. A smarter man might use their ultrasonic cleaner to do it, but I am not a smarter man and my ultrasonic cleaner is as physically far from my ears as I can get it.

Last time I was stripping any models I used Diall Clean Spirit from B&Q. Dropped them in and left them for a week or so (maybe closer to a month, they were forgotten about somewhat), the paint then came off with just a slight tickle from a toothbrush. I did that with plastic, metal and resin minis, all came out fine.

I have been using the version 2 of this:

    https://www.hobbyworkshop.co.uk/vms-clean-slate-remover-3-0-200ml-tc06.html

it has been cleaning thigs up pretty well. I have in a jar that i can drop a couple of minis in and leave them for a while.

For reasons best known to the darkest/deepest/dankest spaces of my psyche, i've "designed" a primaris unit based Dark Angels chapter (yes i know this is soooo not lore accurate, but fudge it, I like the minis - other than the ATV, and the lack of decent heavy weapons in squads).

Link here for those masochistic enough to want to have a look...

Always liked the DA models and certainly the bits that you get with them, so much potential for conversions and kitbashing although I have never been tempted to put together an army of them.

I managed to get this fella to a point where I am happy enough to step away for a bit. I may go back as there are no doubt plenty of little bits and pieces that I can work on, but so far, pretty happy. It really is a fun model and I have been after it for a while. This is the sort of stuff that I love about the older GW things, the humour and silly little touches here and there. For example, you have a nurgling out there like a carrot on a stick, you have a snappy little nom-plant on the back. In the other side of the tree that is growing out of Mulch's shell there is a cheeky little frog hiding in a hole. Mulch might be a snail sort of beastie, but he has 7 pairs of chonky little legs (7 being Nurgle's number), and I love the fact that the chains out at the back mean that he is pretty much the tractor, ploughing up the ground.

So this is what ive been up to lately, magnetising all my Questoris pattern knights so i can run them as Chaos, or Imperial, because i have a 10k Apocalypse battle with all my knights in Jan on Jmigan's Bridge and i know im facing a Reaver titan, so im hoping he can only kill one or 2 knights per turn and should drown him in weight of numbers, i could of taken my Tyranids, but i dont hate everyone involved to the point i would subject them to a movement phase of 10k tyranids

I have also been working on bipedal things.

    I hate mine though.

ended up with half the people flaking out of our massive 10k game, so ''only'' took 5k vs my friends Guard and his titan

easily the best photo of the game, was my Lacer charging headfirst into the Reaver, more as a Distraction Carnifex than anything else as almost all of the damage came from my Tyrants and Dececrators
but i did manage to put a wound on it with a knights heavy stubber, so that was a moment

Sadly, the image doesn't load for me, but big games usually look cool!

I've reached the point not many of us in the hobby reach, no grey plastic.

I need to pluck up the courage to paint some teeth, but honestly there's sixty of the little bastards, I really don't want to.

And this gross ******* is gross and floaty

@Almightyrastus @lilgoth89 @liratheal (and anyone else who might know!)

Gents, I would appreciate your help! Since mid 2023, I've got back into 40K in a big way, and now have a few armies in varying states of assembly. Only one has actually got to the point of being primed for painting though!

Currently, I'm only playing 2-3 games a year unfortunately, either against an old university friend, or my brother. One of my goals for 2025 is to start playing more (and get at least one army painted to tabletop standard), even if I have to book a hotel every now and again to participate in tournaments or something.

Unfortunately, my time is rather limited and I go to bed and rise extremely early, so playing during the week is out. I'm also not on any social media (i.e. Facebook). I'm based in Stoke-on-Trent and have looked into local gaming groups, but they either play at inconvenient times, or don't seem to exist anymore.

So, my question is: do you know how I can get more involved at the weekends?

Your best bet is probably create a Facebook profile purely to use for arranging games. There's a few in my gaming group (including me) who only use facebook for various game groups these days.
There's Stoke Wargames Group based in Longton https://www.facebook.com/groups/126346344081267/

Or your FLGS (Friendly Local Gaming Shop) may well have either a Facebook or Discord group for arranging games.

I'm probably not the man to ask about gaming, I haven't played anywhere near regularly since 8th!

But IME, going to the local GW tended to help pick up info about local gaming groups/clubs/whatever, I never had any joy working that crap out on facebook, and they seemed to pop up and disappear almost faster than it'd be worth having a facebook page, but the same collection of people would be gaming semi-regularly somewhere.
