Nah as youd only get 1/2 of what you need if you relied on a STC.. even though the lore around them alters sooo dam much.. Only just seen the new angron. GW really dont want you to transport these models do they
Correct Sir, grab yourself a cookie in much the same way as there are people who Recast Foreword models there are now a growing number of people who can 3d scan GW models and then upload those scans (usually to sell) so others can download and reproduce them i have several Scans of GW models, i seldomly print the full scan, but in some cases, like conversion bits they can be fantastic as GW doesnt sell weapon packs or individual sprues anymore, for instance when they introduced the new Tyranid special weapons they include ONE in a new box of termagants, which is almost useless to me as i have an entire army of Termagants already, so getting scans or 3rd party bits allows my ~13k of GW space bugs to still bring special weapons without needing to go buy an entire army i also have several scan for the propose of kit doubling, for instance the Tyranid Zoanthrope also constrains the option to make venomthropes, but 2 pieces are shared between the kit and thus for want of 6 tiny pieces you cant make both kits out of the box so i just print the tail and the chestplate and now the box has double the value Scans can also be very useful for custom kitbashing things that will still be compatible with GW plastic, my Knights are a great example of this, i have the scans and designed armour which can easily fit BUT i also do understand that people are just downloading scans and printing entire armies that are almost un-detectable unless you pick them up and notice the weight is different
@lilgoth89 can it be a gluten free cookie... apparently since turning 40 my bodies has decided that it cant handel it anymore. I wont lie i do have a fair few recasts, i mainly get the exclusives or oop stuff, allot of cast sites are now doing sprue casting so they are just as good. And just add some heavy rocks to a base and the weight issues are hard to detect. Im afrer 2 models atm but the cast site i used died soo im sool. My mate 3d printed a warhound and honestly cant tell that much untill you pick it up. He said next time although it cosr more he would print it solid not hollow as some bits are two thin. It all goes over my head i tried 3d printing i found it messy and not for me. So it sits un the cubard, I might grab some 30k mkii assult and terminators for my DAs
When 40k has a plot with more holes than a firing range backstop and characters are regularly introduced, removed or retconned into events they weren't before, I have no sympathy for anyone who complains about changes in the lore. Unless they want to make a diorama of some Imperial Fists ritually eating their own sh*t. But seriously, pick any character that's been around more than a couple of editions and they're probably not the same as they were a decade or two decades ago. I've always thought the 'The Emperor's Companions,' being a brigade of perfectly bronzed roided up pretty boys had some interesting implications of it's own. You'd think with thirst for knowledge he would have swung both ways, widen the boundries of his experience and all that.
I get GW having their own competition or store rules, to make sure you only buy their stuff, but playing between mates? Who cares? You can do a Mechwarrior and have a cardboard stand-up, as long as it fits within the game rules ie. army lists, available options, points etc. (although not as aesthetically pleasing, clearly). No turning up with a Termagant armed with a shoulder mounted "defence laser eruptor blaster repeater" that you just made up, rolls twenty dice and doubles your move speed, for example. Basically, make an effort, bring a model that fits the game rules and you should be golden (demon). That's my view, anyway.
When I used to work down at HQ we used to see and hear all sorts of things from customers (as you can probably imagine) and you couldn't respond in a negative way to them about anything. EVERYTHING had to be positive no matter how bad or crazy it was. A couple of the more memorable ones for you: 1) One guy was absolutely convinced that the Imperial Guard NEEDED hovercraft and built a couple of models. Guaranteed that any event where ForgeWorld would also have a stand he would turn up with a hovercraft and a sales pitch. OK, so the models weren't bad, nicely made, reasonably IG looking, but he would not take no thankyou for an answer. In the 6 months or so that I was there, we saw him at 3 events, games day 99 and a couple of events at HQ. 1) Now this guy was almost the end-of-the-bell-curve definition of the GW fan stereotype. Unwashed, stinky, and with a personality that spanned more than a few shades of the spectrum. Nice enough guy, always up for a looooooooooooong chat, had a lot of ideas, lived and breathed 40k, but could be a bit of hard work if he found someone who would listen and we were somewhat of a captive audience, especially at events. Now this guy would come up with as many new ideas and things that he could to completely break the game and setting and one of the one that sticks in my head was his "Segmentium Grenade". A small hand-held grenade that when used would effectively do an exterminatus on a whole galaxy sector. This was his idea of an "I win" button that no scope for a "no, but..." response.
Jesus. Was that meant to be a suicide device, or did he also have a means of throwing it from a different sector?
Some GW fans are.. Particularly special. Thankfully I've only ever been on the 'I can hear that unique person but don't have to pay attention to them' part of the group. I'm excited to grab some Femstodes, the scale adjustment and the slightly longer legs of the models look really good to me. Since late last year, the winter 'indoor hobby' has been kind of relentless. After the new BT codex, I had to disappear the firstborn and fill the gap with a new half-size Primaris crusader squad, I decided to do ~4k of Word Bearers, and finish up my FSM Red Scorpions. I still have three LR's, two Predators, two Sicarians and a Fellblade to paint on the marine side. I've also been working on Malys, and have a Tyranid kill team that I want to try the 'glue method' on. I also have another Inq28 retinue to paint up, I had a little tank break between troops though (having painted about a hundred marines..) and painted a couple of rhinos, one for Salamanders and one White Scars, although those are both destined for ebay because I have no need for either. I designed and 3D printed the doors for the Scorpions, and had the transfers printed after redoing some of the transfer sheet GW won't sell me anymore either. Time for a picture bomb!
Building four Land Raiders really made me loathe the fitment of the nigh on 30 year old kit Compared to all the new HH stuff that is pretty damn good, the top panel fitment on the old LR's, holy cow are those annoying.
Finally got the parts on the way from over seas to to make my 30k DA feel more DA? Some helmets swords ans stuff. I will admit looked at the bannah boys.. guess we cant call then that now and i might grab the box set and add then to my exsisting hopefully it wont to noticeable with my old stuff. Warhammer world and its back seat gaming and staff refusing to ask someone to leave me alone is the reason i stopped playing. Id only ever played 1 game and met someone to teach me and some dude rolls up to the table wouldnt stop back seat gaming got rude and wouldnt stop touching stuff and the staff wouldnt do anything. It put me off playing i not played since that was soo long ago it was when the dark vengeance box set came out as i mananaged to grab a copy with the exclusive fig
Ok so i know the new custodes models ppl are upset about them.. i personally am ok with the design its the weapons im confused about Where on the guardian spears where has the trigger gone..
I honestly assumed the idea was orginally them to be mimicing royal/vatican guards so a Troop with a Halbard and the Gun addon was to make it more 40k and worked backwards...
2) This sounds like a perfect thing for a major event or tournament. Make it a Necron artefact, have the various factions fight over gaining access to/retrieving it. Only the Necron and Eldar teams get to know what it actually does. The Necrons aren't allowed to tell anyone, the Eldar's fact sheet on it is ridiculously cryptic and convoluted, but technically says what it does. If any team other than the Necrons win, they get the option to activate it. Hilarity ensues.
