I forgot these came out Saturday I had no phone so didn't see my emails. The custodes has sold out. Shocked considering all the ppl that bitched about them!! I guess I'll have to wait for them to come out and pay 3 times as much now as these box sets are limited runs apparently thanks GW.. the tank I ain't to bothered about for now.
weirdly showing as "avaiable whilst stocks last", but has no order/add to basket option; usually shows as "out of stock", or "no longer available on line" - gw webshop is gank.
It shows as sold out yesterday, that will be stored might not have fully sold. Tempted to top to roll up on 4.4 at whw but it's so much more direct from GW than places like Mighty lancer games and Hobby workshop. I even looked at element games. But I new it sells well. It's new scale custodes, although allot of the reviews say the bodies are more female units than male. Not that I care but love how they force it bow
It's brilliant! I also liked some of the comments about Noise Marines being missing. And some about the Necron being Trazyn - how the hell do you tell them apart?! Most of the normal guys I can only tell by the armour. Which brings me to another of my pet disconnects (the first being how something with claws can punch through ceramite armour and in that case, why would you board a space hulk without your bl00dy hat on?!) - just had an email about heavy intercessors. They have upgraded armour and bolt weapons. If this is the case and we're now churning out advanced weaponry and super duper Mk X uniforms, how come a) "so much has been lost, never to be remembered" from the Age of Strife etc. and b) why is it taking so long for the tech to filter down to the poor sods in the green and tan on the frontlines? What did they actually have before the Age of Strife if they can build and maintain bl00dy knights and titans nowadays?! /weirdly involved rant
Allot of it comes down to the banning of the development of technology due to the man of gold ect.. don't forget the imperium gave a plantet to someone who found a STC of a Knife. The whole lore around STCs changes from book to book. The whole origin of Pirmaris was a marking thing, I had friends working at GW when they where in development. The lore is always subject to change to fit what can they sell!! The next chaos Primarch isn't far off from a launch id say we see another one this year. Its becoming hero hammer again. I hope rather than another loyalist Primarch we get Valdor back ! Who knows, I'm still miffed I the custodes box
That's another thing now you've mentioned it - Primarchs. I'm big into the lore and the background and the books etc. but don't have time/money/patience for the gaming side much any more. Soooooo - given these guys are superduperhumans who can crush planets in their hands and all that good stuff, then throw in the fact that you can field them in your army list, why aren't the other squads on a constant tea break in the rear, Mk X feet up, having a brew and a smoke, letting Guilliman do all the hard work? And what happens in your game when some lucky Chaos sniper ticks off his last wound? That seems a bit immersion-breaking. Surely would have been better to release the models for people to paint and look at but not include them in an army? Those guys are probably off planning somewhere anyway, rather than skirmishing at the sort of level that plays out on a tabletop? I reckon I might be overthinking it a bit.
Quite a while ago GW used to do this. FW in particular had a good range of display only models in 1999/early 2000s and if you go back even further there were loads of fun little bits and pieces that where only really there for the LOLs, things like the old Chaos Toilet, Thrudd the Barbarian, and so on, but then a decision was made to give all releases rules and make them playable in one form or another. Even things like the Goff Rocker or the Christmas Red Gobbo models, all were to have rules. And there are a lot of folks who will immediately on release of one of these more display orientated models shout "where rules? What's the point if no rules?" as all they care about is playing rather than the modelling and collecting side (lots of unpainted grey going on with those games... - used to be known as tin boyz back in the days of metal minis) which is fair enough, each to their own and all that, but I do miss the days of a mini being made just for display.
The lore of the game Vs the lore of the universe of 40k are more like parallel universes one influences the other but they table top doesn't represent the game fully it just wouldn't of been any fun. There have been many times units have matched the lore and they ruin the game. and the rules had to be changed sooo fast. Look at custodes if you go from lore Vs table top you'd only ever have 1 unit on the table Vs most armies. But that makes for a crappy game. In HH game you have Primarchs dying to infantry, I've seen a warlord titan go down by a single unit that in lore the titan would stomp on. I'm lucky I'm around the corner from whw and remember the days you could walk in and they made you stuff while you waited.. I can't stand going now days it's lost it's charm to me. I'm like @ModSquid more a lore boi than playing the game. I've just gone through 50 audio books in the HH series and they all contradict even themselves. We all know the strongest part of the game is Plot armour. When they decided after decades of no story to move the story on in 40k if you want to be that guy is not even in the year 40,000 anymore. They killed all my AOS storm cast models and so much of my DA armies got made Legends. Forgewolrd and imperial armour stuff back in the day was wild so much of what it was had gone or just now part of the expert model kits.
Speaking of armour, I've just been sucked down another rabbit hole and found that ze Germans did in fact invent the Vindicator Rhino 38,061 years previously: Which was arguably a great advancement from their vox-listening posts thirty years earlier: (pics are better if you click them, I've just worked out) EDIT: And since I'm already distracted, I just looked up this - it's comedy gold(en Demon)!
I ve been walking home listening to a lore pod cast this week was krieg. Love they set off nuclear bombs as a firework display and screwed there planet over... That's the simplified version but sums up 40k.. I'm hunting for a custod3 box set. Debating going to WHW Sunday and paying GW price and hope they have one..
Managed to get a custodes box hopefully. Paid more than I would if I had gotten it from my normal site but I missed there allocation but less than If I was to buy it directly from GW. A site I've never used but it looks like it's a brick and mortar store someone else where pointed me towards them.. so fingers crossed I guess *** just got a email its been refunded they had a stock error, more annoying site still showing 1 in stock *** Guess i wont be getting this box set
It's all artificial scarcity that's what's more annoying, rather than make a box set with the intention of having actually be a product..make a limited amount and in 8 weeks launch them again as single box sets so you make 3 times the amount! Part of me wants to go to WHW as they open on Saturday see if there is anything but it's a effort to be there as they open for them not to have it and id end up buying other stuff so it's not a wasted trip
Well today was a good day and less than half of what it usually goes for on the Bay Also does this image work ok for everyone ? im basically using Discord as an image hosting service because of the IMGUR blackout
