All my bases arrived today so just gotta wait for my pin drill to arrive and i can start basing the guys i have done so far . Also does anyone have a spare set of space marine legs. i need to make 1 more troop for my DC army and i dont want to have to buy an entire box for just one.
Current update on my wolves, need to do some oil washes and the wolf tails etc but coming on nicely. Face still needs more work along with his hair, need to learn how to paint different hair shades since I dont want a uniform looking army. Not certain If i Like this scheme or not, ordered some vallejo paints in other shades of grey to have a try at the weekend. What do you's think? Edit: crazy, I use a Black and decker cordeless drill + a pin vice for drilling my models lol. Really going to look into getting a dremmel at some point.
would you happen to have the right-handed PF from the assault squad? i'd swap a set of SM legs for that
Looks good gill. Should look even better when you've got the pelts/hair/tail bits done to add a bit of contrast to the blue. Just found something odd with the Tyranids. I've just got the latest codex, and the specs for the weapons are pretty much all different than in the 40k rule book. for example, the death spitter in the codex is listed as an Assault 3 weapon, with strength 5 and AP 5 and range 18". whereas in the 40k rulebook, its listed as Assault 1 blast, with strength S+1, AP5 and range 24". The rule book is the latest one (5th edition). So which is correct? Does the rule book take precedence over the codex? There doesn't seem to be as many weapons listed in the rulebook either.
Codex or Errata take preffernce over the rule book, rule book will be into its 6th edition soon, so the erratas keep the codex's and rulebok up to date. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/c...tegoryId=1000018&pIndex=1&aId=3400019&start=2
Ive been assembling and cleaning up a few finecast eldar squads latelty, Scorpions/Dragons/Hawks and Rangers, aside from a few little bubbles and holes they have been pretty good. Finally stuck together some kroot tonight as well, though enoyingly ive got the arms/heads/bases for another 4 but not the legs or bodies- battleforce only has 12 not the 16 that come in the box.
I've got to say , i do like the 40k space wolves range , really like your wip gil , looks like the face doesn't need much more work than maybe one more layer of highlighting.. metallics look really nice so far , looking forward to seeing it finished. So last night i got about half way through another ogre , this is the last from the basic ogre kit then i'm going to work on optional bits that came with the kit like barrells / satchels / weapons etc.. then i'll base the whole squad in a similar way to the iron-guts squad. pic of the last wip ogre that has been base coated and has all washes applies , next stage is highlighting..
Looking good, Phil Been working on the Harpy; And started a Swarmlord - For the misses, mind, not a dirty xenos myself:
Necron 2nd wave and Nids will be next month, have to wait till next saturday to see the full WD but rumours suggest Harpy and Swarmlord for Nids.
Time for the boys to rank up... Even at the age of 43 i still like putting my toy soldiers in formation.... Latest ogre is on front right (First picture) , just need to finish off the club in his left hand.
Looking good, Phil. It's okay, we always enjoy putting our toy soldiers out Been working on the swarm lord/hive tyrant: And now her 'nids are overrunning my "To do" space. Even though she's the one painting them!
Did I say a few posts back that i'd never had a problem with finecast ? Well my latest delivery was not a very good one. Problems... Very rough casting on the teeth circle thing on the back of the figure , at least 1 tooth is missing. Very rough casting on club in right hand and right hand, club shaft was cracked out of the box and has had to be glued / and filled with green stuff. Very rough casting on right hand - also many air bubbles Sword bent. Skeleton hanging off big round tooth standard had broken off in the package. One peak on the side of the helmet top was gone and has to be re-sculpted with green stuff.
I would have gotten in touch with the retailer or games workshop straight away without even cutting or glueing anything. I've never bought anything finecast, but I have seen many reports where contacting games workshop directly has resulted in them sending a replacement with very little hassle and no request to return the poorly cast model
They have changed the mix of plastic/resin in the finecast so it could be one of the earlier models they did, old stock from the supplier prehaps?
Phone them up, complain, get a new one prob solved. Ive done it a few times. As for the resin changing in finecast I got krell last week who was a brand new sculpt for finecast, well he was just as rubish as the first finecast releases
