FFVII I'm not sure I'll ever play, but I do want to finish FF8 (started, didn't finish yet), 9, 10 and 12. I also still haven't finished Majora's Mask. Last time I had my younger brother finish it *hangs head in shame*
From what I've heard, FFIX isn't really worth it - it's the only one in the series that never gets talked about, probably for a reason. VII is worth it if you can be arsed, though. It's slow as hell, but the storyline is decent. I'm starting to wonder if I'll EVER finish Assassin's Creed, it's just so repetitive. I'm going to try, though.
9 is one of the best, I've recently bought 12 and so far (about 8 hour in) its aweful. The cutscenes go on for about 20 minutes (i don't think 7 had one longer than 2), they have extruiatingly irritating american voice actors, the main character is in a word pathetic, the musics crap (no ubematsu in this one) and the combat doesn't require any of my input whatsoever. Im disgusted. This game for some reason is hailed as the future for JRPGs too. I want my random encouters and ATB back if this is the alternative
Here here! I agree with that. My favourtite FF's were 7,8,9. No massive gaps between story/action sequences and I much prefer the random encounter style of battles. I bought FF12 as soon as it came out, thought it was balls and traded it in. For me, they have all been a disappointment since 10. Apart from the remake of 4 on the DS which is ace
Shenmue on the Dreamcast, I got so far then didn't save and didn't fancy redoing a huge section. That game was weird for it's time.
Hmm.. Final Fantasy 7 i really liked it but i bought WoW so it was the end of it Also fallout 3 and i dont even remember why i guess i had better things to do ^^
Assassin's creed.... It's just... so... repetative Half Life, got to engrossed with HL2 I might go back after Black Mesa comes out Super Mario Bros- My parents sold my NES RA3, dunno why really
I never finished the third Hitman, always putting off getting back to that. MGS2... Eventually, I got so sick of Raiden I had to sell the game. My annoyance one was San Andreas, played halfway and then realised it emulated reality in so many respects that I'd have more fun eating, dating and getting fit in, y'know, like, real life...
Final Fantasy 12 is one game I want to finish eventually. That, and I wouldn't mind seeing some end-game content in WoW during this expansions lifetime
GTA 4, i got really bored after several days of playing, just playing through it slowly now, but as with everything, Halo Wars has been released and thus no more GTA4. Sam
Bioshock. Pretty good game, but got to be much of the same over and over again once I got to the frozen level. Only game I never finished I believe.
Boilding Point - What great potential but the bugs and the endless corrupt saves killed it. FarCry2 - if i had to destroy one more checkpoint i might actually startgoing out into the real world and attacking toll boths. Spore - Tribal phase killed it for me
This thread conjured up some really weird feelings and memories! I have played a LOT of games over the years so I'm very picky about my gaming. I always try to finish a game, no matter how bad it is. If I'm really enjoying something, I take my time. If I'm not, I try to whiz though, so that I can uninstall it and move on to the next one with a clear head/conscience. Sometimes though, I really just can't find the will to finish, so here are several that come to mind: Final Fantasy 7 - I never owned a console my whole life so I missed ALL the FF games. While people were playing those games, I was playing Team Fortress / EverQuest, so I was perfectly happy and don't think I really missed out. I did want to see what all the fuss was about though, so I borrowed my friend's PS2 one time, and I played FF7 and FF8. I just couldn't get in to it though. I quite liked the combat, although it was a little simplistic, and I quite liked the dialogue, but I just got bored of it. It was not long after you go to a town and have to do a bunch of quests in the town like an adventure game. I have just done so much stuff like that on the PC that it didn't really have any spark for me. I did however play Final Fantasy Tactics all the way though and I really enjoyed that, mainly because it was all just fighting which was pretty good. Again, a bit simple compared to AD&D type stuff, but it was still fun. Final Fantasy 8 - ditto ff7. Dead Space - I WANTED to love this game but I just couldn't get in to it. Someone told me to check it out because they know how much I loved System Shock 2. I expected a faithful descendent but it just wasn't. Everything was wrong. I was really peeved. Gothic 3 - I adored Gothic 2 so I tried and tried and tried to love this game, but I just couldn't. I actually played it VERY far, and probably did about 95%. I literally could have seen the end if I stuck with it for one more evening, but I just couldn't find the will. I was bored and tired of it and I was disappointed. Syberia 2 - This game had great reviews and when it was released I was busy playing something else. I forgot about it for years and then a few years ago I saw it for sale really cheap so I bought it. It seemed like a fantastic adventure game, but I just couldn't get in to it at all. I used to play lots of adventure games as a kid, but I just don't think I can play them any more. I am used to far more interactive/visceral gaming now, and going back to an old "point and click" adventure was really a big step backwards for me. I bet it would be one of my favourite games if I played it when it was first released though. NWN2 - Baldurs Gate 2 is my best RPG experience probably, and I was hoping of more of the same, but I just didn't really like it. The combat is far too easy. I played it once and I got bored early on. I went back to it about a year later and I got all the way to the bit where you own a castle and I upgraded it quite a lot, but then I just lost the will to continue and I uninstalled it and haven't been back. I never will. I would try one of the expansions though because I hear they are much better. Vampire Bloodlines - I LOVED Vampire the Masquerade and I hoped for more of the same. Bloodlines was not it Admittedly, it was far better in many ways, but I just didn't really like it. Partly because of the Syberia 2 problem. I just can't get in to long stories anymore. Maybe I developed attention deficit disorder, or maybe I am just too busy in life to really care about a bunch of virtual characters. It just seemed to drag on and I didn't really care about what I was doing. I also didn't like the combat. I should have started again as a different "class" but I didn't want to have to do it all over again. I have to say though, the haunted house part of that game was the scariest gaming experience I've ever seen by far. I have to congratulate them on that at least. Betrayal At Krondor - I loved this game and I really enjoyed playing it. Unfortunately.... I didn't play it until a few years ago and by that point, it was about 20 years old or something. It was a fantastic game but I am just too used to modern games now, I am spoilt and I couldn't force myself to keep playing it. I think if I played it when it was new though, it would have been some kind of revelation to me and I suspect would be my number 1 favourite game of all time. Summoner - Ditto what I said about Betrayal at Krondor. I really liked the idea of having a party of characters to control and it was such a nice game in many ways. I just couldn't really get in to it though, because I'm too spoilt by massive big budget modern games, and also because I am bit weary of RPG 'adventures' which were like a REAL adventure when I first did them age 7, but more than 20 years later I'm a bit tired of it because I've done it so much in so many games. p.s. Also a bunch of games already mentioned by people, for reasons already mentioned I didn't like the first one because I hate mazes, but I finished the second and third one. When I first played them as a kid, I got absolutely slaughtered. First I got stumped, in EOB2, there is the level where you can't rest... I spent weeks running around that place getting more and more lost and trying to figure out what the hell I was supposed to do. It was really quite hard for me. I FINALLY somehow managed to get past it and I went up and up to the fourth level. But you then start getting attacked by "Beholders" and they would kill almost my entire party with 1 spell I tried and tried and I just couldn't get anywhere because they were far too hard. Probably about 15-20 years later, I went back to that game (thanks to DOSBOX it works in XP) With knowledge of "grinding" in games like EverQuest, I tried stuff out in EOB2. I found that if you just keep on going up to the Priest dormitories at the start of the game, you can level up your characters. It is pretty boring doing that over and over... but if you spend half an hour or so doing that, and then you make sure to kill everything you encounter from then onwards, then you should end up with quite a strong party by the time you reach the beholders. At that point it was a more balanced fight. EOB3 was a similar story.
Never finished Severance Blade of Darkness due to being unco-ordinated in the fighting. Respect to anyone who completed it. I've been back a few times but have failed to complete it.
deus ex. yea, shoot me now. but i was like 10 at the time, loved it, got quite far. then stopped. i think it was because summer came around - the sunshine called. im re-playing it over easter though, ive decided.
I can second that; I've played through the first two about ten times each, but couldn't get into the third. I might give it another go at some point but there was something about it that stopped me playing, the combat IIRC
Metroid Prime - played until the just after you get into the mines, then stopped and never got back into it... Most Zelda games - got a disk with them all on with my Gamecube but it only worked in black and white with my old TV, being young and foolish I traded the disk in and now I'd quite like it back...
