    Hi i recently built my 8 year old his first Pc and now he is bugging me to put more games on it. At first he kept asking for UT or GTA:Vice City after both of us being told bluntly by his mother that, that was not going to happen I decided to look around for him but other than Sims which is 7+ there does'nt seem to be a lot about.

    So I was wondering if any one had any recommendations his system spec are below.

    Cpu = 1GHZ

    Memory = 384 MB of PC133 SDRAM

    GFX = Nvidia Geforce 2 Mx

    Sound = Onboard

    The advanced search on http://www.game.co.uk will let you pick age ratings, for some reason I had to search twice before it gave any results, but I eventually ended up with a list of 100 titles that were 7+ or lower.

    Very few that I've played and can thus advise much on to be honest although I did spot "The simpsons Hit and run" which is fun.

    Well a GeForce 2 can't run Lego Star Wars II, according to the minimum requirements, but I'm not too sure about the first game. I guess you would have to turn the fancy settings off, who knows? Somebody with personal experience will probably be able to tell you more.

    To be honest when you said 8 year old I immediately thought of Monsters Inc etc. Reading about Unreal Tournament though, that's one tough customer to please. Good Luck!

    Jazz Jackrabbit 2 is pretty good.
    As already said older simpler games are the way forward imo in terms of suitability for an 8 year old.

    How about some of the driving games? F1 GP2 (think it was called that) was a really good game, and that was years ago it was out so you might be able to run it.

    Did you know that it has now been proven that playing certain types of computer games improves reaction times and hand-eye co-ordination. :D:D:D:D:D

    Well, you could always install some emulation software and play some older games like SNES and N64 titles.

    What's not to like about Super Mario World on the SNES or The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time on the N64?

    As a legal caveat, I think it's OK to install and play these titles if you have owned the originals, which I'm guessing you have. :)

    I'd like to hear how mikemorton dug up this thread - I know there's not a huge turnover of threads on this board but he must have had to go back a few pages to find it.

    Or been doing a search for "8 year olds"....
