are you overclocking or running stock? i didn't see a cooler in there so I assume you are running stock. If thats the case then maybe get something other than the antec 900. Some people claim its a loud case with the fans in it. the 120 on the back makes the most noise but the 2 120's on the front can get loud if you crank them up.
But if you do plan to overclock then I think its a great case and worth the money. I do plan to replace my 120ml fans at some point with some that are quieter. The stock fans also run off of molex connectors which I dont like as it just means more cables running everywhere.

A side note about lightscribe, it only prints in grey scale. I was disapointed when I found that out but I guess its not that big of a deal.

the faster ram was only 12 more when I looked at it, and I would say that its worth the money. even at 20 pounds.

video looks good, maybe consider the 640mb version if you can afford it,

Take the q6600 over the e6750. not a huge difference in games right now but for apps that support it there is a good boost to performance. and games will come along eventually.

Only thing that I have to wonder about is why you want a 680i board? I'm not saying that they are bad boards but a p35 would be a better way to go. I know they aren't sli boards but one good card is a better way to go than two moderatley good cards.
    my suggestion:

id agree with chris. try to get the 640mb card. quad core, and get a p35 board they seem to be the best now. also the psu u choose is the best, second is the lower wattage model (520 hx i think). dont let anyone tell you otherwise. good luck

I will more than likely OC, though not to a massive degree. For the time being I will be using the stock cooler as they can take a fair OC before needing to be replaced and im kinda short on money.
Atm im using the Coolermaster Ammo 533, which is pretty much slient, so alot of noise would worry me a bit, tbh I was just gonna shove all the new componants in this case rather than get a new one, but I saw that one, and liked it. If you know of a better one for around the same price feel free to suggest it.

Im not too fussed about the Lightscribe tbh, just i need a faster drive, and they are all around that price.

Unforutantly as I said before, rather tight on money, which is why its the 320 rather than the 640, but thats why I went for the OC2 version, to squeeze that little extra from it.

Well, the main reason for the 680i bored is that I like the nVidia chipsets, but now I come to think about it, I doubt ill be going SLI anytime soon. So this brings another question, P35 or X38?

Ty for the input, its really helping me choose what would be best for me, esp now I think about the whole 680i thing.

I haven't looked a lot into the x38 but I think the p35 is a better overclocker. I know that the x38 has both slots running at 16x for a dual video setup. you may be better off going with an x38 if you can find one for a good price. I'm not really sure, maybe someone else can help you out with that better than i can.
As for a new case, the sonata 3 isn't bad looking,
    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?ANT-SON3
it does come with a psu but if you can find it at a store they may offer to take the psu out of the case and sell you the case for a lower price.
The antec 180 and the 182 are also both nice cases. I'm pretty sure that bit tech has done reviews on them. Both are supposed to be quite. the cost slightly more than the antec 900 but you do get what you pay for.

P35, save the extra bit of money because X38 is pretty expensive (haven't seen any board under $250), and P35 performs well. Everything else looks solid.

You'll easily be able to run that rig with the Corsair HX520 - no need to spend the extra on the 620.

What about a 640MB 8800GTS? Bigger frame buffer, much better performance, not much price increase. :)

I've got one thing that'll knock off a lot of money...try a different shop

look around on ebuyer and scan etc and you'll be knocking off some £100+. The cost mind you is always important at least to me that is :thumb:

    Bump on that one...

With regards to your HDD selection, try not to go for Samsung as i've had a few bad experiences with them :wallbash:(i.e HDD failure after 1 year, another instance it could not be detected 2 days after purchase & installing XP - tech shop guy was :worried: as well). But i'll admit their cellphones and LCD TVs are good...

I'm currently waiting for the penryns to arrive b4 I burn that hole in my wallet....:thumb:

I'd cut the spare hard drive and step up to a 640MB video card--just in case. But the 320MB is perfect as it is if you've already met your budget quota.

By the way, I'm assuming you already have a really good keyboard and mouse;)

Your build is almost the same as what i built last week

    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=140594&highlight=new+q6600+rig

I went for the Asus P5K Premium and 520W HX in the end if you cba to scroll down

I'm not a big PC Gamer and mainly use my pc for 3d modelling/animation/rendering + all the regular stuff so i couldn't justify the extra £65 on getting the 640mb version of the 8800gts. Also saved £30 odd on the PSU

The Antec p182 case is a monster, love it

All the stuff is available on scan at some pretty good prices + the free delivery makes it a nice deal

Yes, but for both myself and akava, we can just go down to novatech, and pick it up that very same day, which is why we originally chose novatech, we made a revision lists from scan last night, and i think it was only slightly cheaper, but i can't remember that far.

The Corsair supplies are great, in every way, to be simple.

Most of the build looks fine, but I would make some changes:

First is the case. I recently built a system using that case and it is dreadful. Buy the Antec P182 to be honest. If you were willing to spend some more cash, then I would have recommended the Lian Li V1000.

Second, the power supply, a Corsair HX520 will be plenty for an 8800GTX and Q6600, let alone a GTS. (You have selected similar parts to my friends build actually).

Try a 2900 Pro from ATi rather than the 8800GTS. It is faster, and has more memory, it will be able to cope better with that resolution, and it is actually a 2900XT, so you can overclock it a lot too, with no effort!

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10. Fastest drives for the money at the moment. Some think that the 7200.11 could be Raptor speed or faster.

The motherboard, I would personally choose the EVGA as it is the best overall board out of all the ones on the market. But if you don't plan to use SLI, then buy a P35 board instead, cheaper and faster (a bit).

Cooler for the CPU: Tuniq Tower 120. Great value, best performance (falls just behind the Ultra 120 Extreme)

    Hope this helps!

    Wow, loads of replies :D

I have decided that the P35 will be fine tbh so thats what im going with.
I dropped the smaller HD and im looking into a different one, the reason I chose the Spinpoint was because it performed very well in a PC Format group test, but of course that doesn't take into account the continued use of said products.
Also I am highly considering the 640mb card, now linked above as per recomendation.
I thought that 520w would probably be fine, but decided I didn't want to risk it, but as it has been mentioned that the 520w is fine, I think ill go for that one and save myself £30.
As for Keyboard and Mouse I will be buying the Razer Copperhead, and im undecided on the keyboard as of yet.

Once again ty for all your help, always nice to hear from a different perspective.

P.S As you can see I changed where I plan to buy my things from, Scan is somewhat cheaper, and of course, linked to Bit-Tech ;)

P.P.S I will probably wait for the new nVidia's, but im not too fussed about Penryn.

P.P.P.S Ty for your input Lamboman :D

Sorry for the double post, but just to update that I think what I have in the first post is what i'll be getting, with just maybe a small change of the card if the new ones come out soon enough.

You're going to love that P182(if the praise from the case reviews at bit-tech wasn't enough) I love mine.
