    Hi all,

I'm trying to find a headset for use when gaming and VOIP, ideally what I'm looking for is one like you would use as a handsfree for a mobile. I'm guessing if I just buy a bluetooth one and also get a bluetooth USB adapter it should work? I would also like one with adjustable volume so that when I'm gaming I can use my speakers and just use it as a microphone but also when using it for Skype I can mute the speakers and listen through the headset so it's more private and my housemate cant hear the whole conversation. Any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.
    Will

You'll find it hard to find a good headset to meet your specification, when gaming i wouldn't dream of using headphones and speakers... purely for noise cancelling reasons, the people on skype don't want to hear all your music/sounds/etc.

as far as wireless/blue-tooth is concerned, you will be getting a awful headphone set.

Why not just get a 5.1 surround sound headset with a built in microphone, then you will actually get good sound and decent mic.

It's the only way to go about it..

    Check out the: Roccat Kave
    Medusa 5.1

Yeah, the logitech G35's are real nice, There's no comparison to gaming headsets. with wireless you'll be constantly changing batteries, recharging, etc, Plus with most gaming headsets you get large drivers (30-40mm) The bigger the drivers the louder and larger range of sounds! so you can get a real deep bass, or higher pitch sounds

The headphones in my sig are pretty awesome. They were given a gold star by CPC last time they did a review of gaming headsets. They shut out all surrounding noise to the point where you can barely hear someone talking next to you. It has an onboard USB sound card which can be useful should you not have a decent sound card. The only downside that I can find is that the headband can prove to be a little uncomfortable after periods of time after which i just move the headset a little. Maybe I just have an especially weak sensitive skull ^^

    ps. they cost £60

Damn, I bought those when they were £99 off Scan. But yes, they are very good high fidelity headphones for gaming and music.

I couldn't find a headset to do all the things you want - and I was looking just recently.

In the end I focused on PC use (gaming, for me) and went for the Creative HS1200 which are a wireless set. That's really what I wanted most. I'm very pleased with them, although the cups are on the small size and don't completely cover the ear.

Prior to that I was using a Steelseries H4 set. Very comfortable, very good. But after a couple of years bit of plastic around the ear pieces were breaking off. Still, I used them an awful lot for several years, so I feel I got my money's worth. These are corded.

If you want a gaming headset, I would recommend the Sharkoon X-Tatic. Works with PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Its Full 5.1, really comfy and some people rate it higher than Astros (The best, and most expensive, headset for 360. Used by alot of MLGs).

I don't quite understand, you want a headset for gaming and for a cell phone?

I'll just give you my standard recommendation for gaming headsets: don't buy one. Unless if you are such a 'pro' that you definitely need real surround sound to pinpoint where people are in an FPS, just get a pair of good headphones and a standalone mic.

You can't really compare the sound quality of a gaming headset to real headphones..

If you're looking on a budget, I'd say go for a pair of JVC HA-RX700s and a cheap mic with a stand. The entire setup won't cost more than $40, and you'll have a more comfortable and probably better sounding setup than most headsets.

I'm using Razor Cataraahshsha or something, Graeme over at kustompcs kindly allowed me to upgrade from a steelseries 5Hv2 after it failed on me for the 3rd time in a year.

Only complaint so far is the noice cancellation on the mic - my mumble team mates have said I sound alot more monotone, I'm assuming that's filter kicking in.

Ok, thanks for all the advice and recommendations guys.

I don't think you've quite got what I want the microphone for, its less for gaming use and more for the skype kinda use, I really want it to be wireless so when I'm talking to someone over skype I can walk around a bit or even lay in bed, and thats the reason why I'm looking for something much smaller than a full headset. Probably should've been more specific in my op.

    Thanks anyway.

A smaller headset will not be as good quality, so will not be good for gaming. But If you want a headset for skype, a cheap, small one will suffice.

I agree. Look at the price of a gaming headset and spend that amount on a cheap standalone microphone and some Sennheiser headphones, you'll be laughing.

I have both the Logitech ClearChat Comfort and the Creative Sound Blaster Arena. The first is good for VOIP and you can wear for long sessions with no irritation, but the other has much better sound quality, has a detachable microphone and has a noise isolation quality to it due to the cups going around your ears. However, the Sound Blaster Arena does begin to hurt the top of my head after long sessions, which means I have to move it around once in a while. It also makes communication with somebody else in the room quite difficult, as you won't be able to hear yourself or the other person very well. Both are good in different ways.

Neither are wireless, but they're both really good. I would say go with the ClearChat Comfort, it's not Wireless, but it does everything which you wanted in a headset.

Sorry, but the title even says "GAMING HEADSET" but for what you're saying, gaming its not the primary use.

    check this Pls:

or check this site, to install a bluetooth USB adapter to your pc and you could buy any bluetooth headset you like

Such headsets is hard to find, I think. I've never found before.
I agree with "shoxicwaste" said. The 5.1 Surround Sound USB Gaming Headphone with Microphone is a better choice for you. If you like, I can suggest mine good headset for you. Check: http://www.sourcingmap.com/surround-sound-usb-gaming-headphone-headset-with-microphone-p-40566.html
It is perfect for PC gaming and movies. AND the adjustable microphone is perfect for online gaming or internet calling.
    Very functional.
