that is pretty offensive to me, you shouldn't call people who are Devolpmentally Delayed RETARDS it is quite offensive, demeaning and cruel. How would you like it you had something wrong with you which was poked at and made fun of for half your life. Sorry if this seems like a flame, but unless you have a disability of some sort you have NO RIGHT to make statements like this. to qoute a movie "bad form".

No, I don't mean it, I just saw an opportune moment to make a tasteless comment.

I imagine it would be relatively heavy (especially after hours of gaming), and hot, even with fans. I don't know about you, but airflow tends to dry out my eyes and skin after a while. It may be fun to make but...for real world use, is it any better than a comfortable headset? What advantages does it offer?

Keep in mind that batteries add to the weight, and they'll go quickly.

ok i put fans on my headset because i get hot during my mini lan party(me 3 friends in my bedroom) and fans help.

unfortnualy weight became a big problem enven with a motorcoss helmet(no modding just weight test) even with power cord
ok so unless i can get some seriously light stuff this thing goes no where
as of now its postponed with only my hockey helmet beta done
if i have any change of fortune(christmass coming soon so mabye) then i will put this thing bakc on the front burner

sry if i offended anybody with the christmass remarkh

mabye with very low res i could put like ammo/speed clips and other important info that would leave the screen on the computer free of other stuff
gotta find some rich kids(shoulnt be hard in my school, being a freshmen and convincing them to put money towards this might) for investments

You're missing the point of the Glasstrons, they would not be used in conjuction with a monitor. They are a bit more than a HUD, you could get RID of the monitor and play on those only. Basically, they are VR goggles... :thumb:

The best VR Helmet back in the day was the good ol' VFX 3D. This headset kicked-ass, I had the pleasure of using one a few times. Sure, it has it's drawbacks, but when it came out LCD tech was NOT where it is now. Sadly, no one really is into the old-way of VR anymore.

It has full Yaw, Pitch and Roll head tracking. Which means you can use your keyboard for WASD movement, and the helmet as your "mouse" for Look/Aim. Imagine DesertCombat with one of these :naughty: You can still find them on ebay...

If you want to build your own without head tracking, the design you should shoot for is like the VFX-3D.
