    Hey
I am saving up some money and I'm going to buy a laptop for university. I'll have $1600 canadian plus $200 from my parents, for passing, so $1800. And I might be able to sell a few things I don't need. So say $2000 tax in. I want a laptop with good battery life, that can play games like IL2 Pacific Fighters, Age of Mythology, CS:S and maybe a few other light games. I would like to have a 17 inch screen if possible but will stick with something smaller if necessary.
I dunno what else to include in a laptop, something light I guess and something that looks good (not top priority). Anyway I dont know a lot about laptops so I'm turning to you guys for some help. Thanks for reading.

Anyone have anything? I was thinking about a dell 9400 with the upgraded 7600 gpu. Does anyone on here know if an Apple would be good for gaming for a reasonable price?

well firstly some agmes dont work on an apple , unless you have Boot Camp. Secondly apple's are generally expensive for what they are. Go for an inspiron e105, i think thats the name. also the 7600 is not bad - its a mid range gaming card. i was looking into it myself. Dont expect anything at high settings though.

As you said, the Inspiron 9400/e1705 is a good bet, especially with the upgrade to a 7900GS. Also, check this page for the new $750 discount code on the 14th July (if you can wait that long) and you can spec it up to the absolute top end for less than $2000 all in.

Thanks for the reply. Yah I can wait that long, infact I have to wait for the end of the summer to save up enough money because I just spent what I had on some other stuff I needed. Do you think the back to school sales will be better then these offers?

I just checked that out and I was pretty excited to do that. Anyway I can't find the right system for that $750 coupon. It has to be a E1705S1, E1705S3, or E1705S4 and the only E1705 system I can find is the E1705S2 which isnt valid for the coupon. If someone could help me find the right system it would be greatly appreciated.

Edit* A bit more info on this. When I put the number in the check out it says "The following coupons have been entered but require additional information or do not meet eligibility requirements. Click "View Details" link(s) for more information."

Then I click on details and it says this about the coupon:
Inspiron affiliate offer $750 off $1999+ (before tax, restocking fees, shipping and handling)

    LIMITED TIME OFFER!
Limited quantity offer – only 4000 systems available for purchase with this coupon code. Even when I click on the E1705 across the coupon on this page it is the wrong system.

    Can anyone help?

I think it might just be that there have already been more than 4000 orders using the code for this month already, so its no longer active. Thats why I said that you might have to wait until the code for next month comes online (should be at the same page) and then try to order it ASAP.
