Okay, I want to build a gaming machine. I kind of want to go with AMD. but as everyone should know is that AMD is losing its grip on the chip world. And AMD MOBO is lacking alot good features. I know that the i7 is good and all but still not worth the price and i5 is suppose to be out around mid summer.

    I like ATi cards too.

    So what should i do?

Your current machine is fine. Keep it until Core I5

Exactly. A 4870x2 and 3.2GHz dual core is perfectly fine for gaming!

Agreed. If you're desperate for an extra speed boost, your best bet is probably to sell off the Raptors and go SSD+HDD. Maybe do an in-place CPU upgrade to a Q9550, maybe. But when your system already looks like that, really, why would you be looking to replace it in its entirety? It will not be worth the extra cost. Period.

+1 on that, the only upgrade I can really see for a decent (relatively cheap) speed boost would be faster RAM (1066MHz+), but even then you're forking out £50 for a performance upgrade you won't really notice

    That makes more sense.

I'd wait for i5 if I were you. At the very least, you'll get to see whether it's worth however much it'll cost, and if it isn't, at least the prices on everything else will have dropped.

Definitely wait. There's absolutely nothing that is reasonably priced and will give you a real improvement.
