It's a variable clutch so you can have it free rolling all the way to a proper solid click. I set mine to free roll and then back it off a turn so it feels soft to click. Rather enjoying it to be honest.

 

Well, I'm sold. What a great mouse the Basilisk is. Extremely smooth, good pressure on clicks, buttons are comfortable and well placed and the best schroll wheele I have ever used. Also very customisable with the software. Appreciate the recommendation!
