    Hi guys,

So traditionally I've played a lot of RTS games where mouse movement isn't the be all and end all.
However, having recently got into Bad Company 2, I've realised that my mouse sometimes gets stuck on my desk surface and I could do with a mousemat.

What does everyone else here use, and what would you all recommend. Don't really want to pay a fortune, at the end of the day, its still just a sheet or rubber!

I got one printed from deviantArt. Very high quality and just the nicest silky sheen perfect for twitchy movements :)

It's not like the ice-rink style teflon ones, and that's a good thing.

I use a nice, blue piece of soft neoprene.

None of your brand-name fatal-one-ty deathadder megasuperslick lasersurface crap here.

I used almost every single brand name mouse pad. They claim this and that but their are only different by their material.

Most common is cloth mouse pads. I have a Steelseries QCK, it has the exact same texture as as some random $2 mouse pad. Not saying cloth isn't bad but one cloth is the same as any other. The most grippy type of mouse pad if you like grip.

Plastic is very popular. Granulated plastic surface glides really well but wears down quickly. If you like inexpensive mouse pads that glides good, you any plastic mouse pad should be good. They also wear down mouse feet too though.

Glass is a surface only available on the IceMat (now knows as the Steelseries I/I2) it is a sandblasted texture surface similar to plastic but much more fine. It provides a near frictionless glide that doesn't wear down. Also doesn't wear down mouse feet. I like this mouse pad the most for its glide and low static friction. It also remains flat and rigid at all times unlike cloth and plastic. The only downside is how cold it gets when not in use.

The newest surface is aluminum. The surface is sandblasted texture similar to glass but aluminum. The glide on the other hand is not as smooth as glass but not as grippy as cloth, somewhere in between. Its definitely one of the best materials you can get a moude pad made of. Both steelseries and Razer offer their own versions buts its practically the same thing.

I recommend aluminum or glass but they are expensive.

Sorry to hijack, but im looking for an A3 sort of sized mat for general use and lots of CAD, retrogradations? The Razer looks a bit small for my needs.

I have a spare door mat that is the Roccat Taito Kingsize. Maybe that would be good for Mankz? Large and smooth cloth pad.

In daily use I have the Steelseries 9HD, which is so far my favorite mouse pad of them all. Before this one I had a Qpad X-TR for ages and it wasn't bad either, but too thick for my liking.

I personally use a Thermaltake A2501 Green X mousemat and it's superb for gaming and general use. It's quite large too, so you've plenty of room for whatever you're doing.

I bought mine here for only €7 http://www.custompc.ie/ttake-a2501-green-x-mouse-pad-46757-p.asp, but you're probably not Irish, so I'd Google around for it on another site.

I've got one of these they are great, the only thing I'd say is it's very big so much sure you've got enough desk space. I find it's extra size very handy.

Wow, ok, so it sounds to me like mousemats are down to personal preference though the Steelseries has a number of votes here!

Most people recommend the ones they use. As I said each material has its own profile.

    Cloth for more friction.
    Plastic for a decent glide.
Aluminum and Glass for the best glide
