I'm looking to build a new PC which will be mainly used for gaming (I haven't been able to play new games for a while now, and Empire: Total War looks very tempting). Here's what I'm thinking of building (all prices from e-buyer unless otherwise stated): Viewsonic VX2260WM - £164.97 (BT shop) Thermaltake Soprano - £44.81 OCZ StealthXStream 600W - £54.99 (Play.com) Asus P5Q SE - £78.99 Intel Q6600 - £147.96 (Scan) (Far Cry 2 included) 4GB Corsair XMS2 800MHz - £39.99 Zotac GTX 260 (216) - £204.64 Western Digital Caviar 300GB - £39.99 (Play.com) Akasa 966BL - £23.56 (Scan) LG 22X DVD RW - £17.99 (Play.com) Vista Home Premium x64 - £88.03 Total - £905.70 Any suggestions? I do not want to spend much more than that but if spending a little more would make a big difference I might be able to spend a bit more. Thanks.
That looks like a solid PC, seems like you've got it all figured out. But only one HDD? For gaming I would have at least 2, since games are getting ridiculously big now a days I'd get a HDD for the OS and one for games (At lease that's what I do).
What about a the Samsung Spinpoint 1TB that Bit seems to love so much at the moment. I'm not a file hoarder really, so I'm not sure how much storage I'll actually need.
maybe another 10quid and get Coolermaster Black CM690 Case With Coolermaster 520W RealPower Pro Modular PSU http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139793 +1 Seagate Spinpoint 1TB
looks like a solid build. my friend has an Antec 300, the build quality isn't as good as my Antec P182, but its airflow is better. good buy. hum, the credit crunch is really taking effect. i had my system, except 8800GTX instead of gtx260, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD built more than one and half yearago for £1000. one and half year later, and overall system price only went down 100??
Yep, since I started looking into the build a few months ago, the price has gone up a fair bit. The only price that has improved is that of the GTX 260.
