    A board game mechanic & "plot" don't necessarily have anything to do with each other. It's entirely possible/probable that someone at Fantasy Flight had a good little mechanic worked out & wanted a well renound IP to apply it to for commercial success. Then one day Epic puts out feelers for effort free merch.... Bada-bing, bada-boom, Gears boardgame.

    The weird part is, as a result, the game might not be that bad.

    Fantasy Flight did a superb job turning Battlestar Galactica into an *awesome* board game - I'll be very interested to see what they make of GoW.
