Xbox 360 Gears of War in "Might Justify The Hype" shock!!!

Anyone here seen the new Gears Multiplayer footage on Gametrailers.com it ROCKS. I'll admit to not being completely sold on the whole Gears thing, up until last night I hadn't seen anything that seemed to justify the hype, but now I'm VERY excited (still looks a bit too much like Kill.Switch to me though! With lots of Mortal Kombat-style blood!).

Anyone else fancy a bit of Gears action?

 

I know I do, the theatrical trailer on XBL atm really does set the scene rather well.

 

Not been following this much at all, gonna see what the reviews say and stuff, then I can decide if I want to get it.

From what I've seen, it could turn out to be one of the most awesome games ever, or it could turn out to be a little, meh.

 

I was all the way in the "Meh" camp, my flat mate was marking out to it all the time though, "Best Game Ever" etc. I've been keeping tabs on it for a while and just thought it look interesting, kill.switch meets Full Spectrum with added chainsaws, but also kinda clunky and a bit too grey.

But the multiplayer stuff just looks really fun, they have managed to keep the combat similar to the single player, much more sneaky and heavily team based, than your average deathmatch, I don't think I saw a rocket-jump anywhere!

And some of the weapons look incredible, theres one that's kind of a protable Ion-cannon (think C&C but in a handgun!).

 

LOL the gore in those vids was awesome Especially those "excecution" phases. Can't wait to for this to come out haha.

 

Has the potential to be a defining moment for Microsoft or a wet lettuce. I'm hoping for the former, especially after seeing some of the really lovely looking singleplayer play throughs.

Anyway when we are co-op LAN hooked up, you know, it is going to be the greatest! Then kicking anus online together, oh yeah!!! Its gonna be like Quake 2 multiplayer all over again!!! WHO NEEDS SLEEP!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!

Its a week away!

 

I picked up my check from work today and decided to pick up Gears at my local EBgames retailer. I walked in and saw a great amount of copys on the shelves I kindly asked the gentlemen over the counter for a copy, he then began to explain that he only had the limited editions for sale all of the standard or regular copys were all reserved for people that had preorder. And of course I broke down and bot myself a copy needless to say the game is great so far although Iam only about 2 hours into the game itself.

I think im a hypocrite for saying this but I hope the sales start to decrease with the limited editions from what i saw in ebgames today know one is really forking out the money for the LE versions except me and not to mention its only two days after the release of the game.

 

Hmm... well finally the big day has arrived, the Dr is get his 360 tonight with Gears an I'm getting the game too, so we're gonna attempt the impossible, ACTUAL LINK-UP PLAY *dramatic music* Seriously, the last time console link up worked for me was when team Don't Own Xboxes came second in the Uni Halo tournament (I still claim we were robbed of first!). The time before that was Doom 1 on the PS1! Which was awesome by the way, the dead bodies DIDN'T VANISH it was like looking in to the future...

There's nothing more frustrating than when it doesn't work. The wave of anger and fear rising from inside. Should I run back to the shop now? SHould I give up ever trying? Have I made a fundamental error? Have I bricked it already?

I'm gonna check the best way of getting this thing working online in a min (on lunch) we're got a nice router and about 75ft of Ethernet cable (should be enough) so hopefully it'll just work... It's not gonna work...DAMN IT!

 

Got my LE version this morning.... damn this game really is good. I knew the graphics are great but I didn't know they'd be that great!

 

The game is amazing. I just Love it Online is a bit hit and miss but I love single player. God Insane must live up to its name as casual is a bit well not easy

 

Just started playing my "supposed" collectors edition.

Well, first impressions are... OMFG. As good as I hoped. The controls are ultra simple and can therefore misbehave as there's a few actions assigned to the A button, but aside from that it's looking awesome.

The graphics are simply sensational. Nothing else comes close - it's not just the initial impression of slickness, but the many small details that impress such as the heat haze coming off the weapons when they've been used or the insane shaking effect when something explodes nearby.

Some people are complaining about it's lack of depth and the fact it's just fairly brainless shooting action. Well approach it as next-gen SHUMP like Contra and you'll have a lot of fun imho.

I've started on hardcore and it's really difficult. Even the training level has yielded a few deaths.

 

i played this for the first time tonight around my mates, and all i can say is its excellent. its not just a simple shooter as it requires at least a little strategy, and doing that berserker bit in co op is just crazy

there are some small things ive noticed with the graphics that i don't like, like with the skin seeming really shiny, but apart from that the graphics are great.

my main problem is using the controller for aiming, no fun at all i need a mouse.

 

i'm gonna have to get this tomorrow.. got a fair bit saved on the hmv rewards card so it should only cost about £30 of money too

 

The collectors edition tin seems pretty cool too. Comes with a really nicely bound hardback art book with oodles of lovely images in it, and an extra DVD too with stuff on. Seems to be the same price as the usual version which is weird.

 

The game is just immense! Playing through on a system link co-op started on hardcore, rinsing locust as we go! Chainsaw kills hilarious everytime! Had a go at some of the multi player maps, they look absolutly amazing, the water effects on the sea just blew my mind! Seriously this game blows everything out the water and the next lot of games coming out, this is going to be the comparison.

You'll soon realize the game gets very dull on Act 4/Act 5, hide behind a wall, shoot, next wall, shoot, This game will go back on a shelf once i get all the SP achievements i think, only dom achievements and cluster left

 

I played gears of war during school on a projector during class. And all I can say is its crazy fun. being able to stomp people to death istead of the just falling over is so much fun!
