For all of you who don't know Geek Squad, it's a US PC repair company you can call to fix your PC. These phone pranks are so hilarious! Definately listen to the second one:

    Poor Geek Squad :hehe:

I listened to a few of these the other day, good stuff. :thumb:

I actually considered applying to work at Geek Squad, but I really don't think I could stand dealing with people who know nothing about technology. :p

This just really proves how bad geek squad and best buy is... the sad thing is though that I'm sure best buy is making tons upon tons of money with them. $79 to reformat a computer? $229 for someone to come out and do it? Thats $229 for 10 mouse clicks and the tech sitting on his ass for an hour while it formats. And they don't even supply the cds.

"How much do megabits costs? It depends what company dat makes them."

They make me cry. I'm to discussed to laugh at most of them. The gibson one was just so stupid that it was pretty good tho.

Most of the kids who work there are in college, with no training yet. Complete rip-off, and the employees don't get much of that money.

For the most part they charge too much for doing basic things that any semi-compitent person could accomplish. I had a neighbor take in a box a couple days ago with hdd that had corrupted itself in a couple of places (including a few files rather important to windows) and they were just going to do a clean reinstall and reccomended a new hdd. I poped in a knoppix CD, discovered that the damage was localised to a couple rather isolated areas, and to make a long story short I ran a rather useful utility that took 2 hours to correct most of the major errors and let chkdsk take care of the rest ;)

TBH I have already replaced the geek squad in my neighborhood :D

Most of those calls are to Mission Control and not actuall GS agents. MC is a third party service that really dont do much besides forward calls. MC is something that is being worked on...

90% of the agents with the company are very good with alot more training then most. The pay is far above average as well....So before you post you may want to have a small clue about what it is your posting about =)

Anthony Hadfield...your friendly GeekSquad Double Agent (the one who drives the bug)...

Don't know exactly where you live Haddy, but that's not been my experience here.

I would have had to take a 50% cut in pay to work there, and the guys who do are worthless, and outright lie to the customers. I've watched it... I know.

Yea, I applied for Geek Squad too. Not the beetle-driving part, tbh I think that they are womens' cars. I went for the instore part. Unfortunately, they were not hiring anyone for summer jobs at the time. Hopefully I will reapply in November to work on weekends, so that by the time next summer rolls around and I'm out of school again I'll have 6 months on my resume and can either stay at bestbuy or get a better job somewhere else. I think most big box electronics company employees tend to be a little egotistical and annoying, but it's better than applying to a fast food place.

Like I said 90% of us are good agents. Considering there are over 9000 agents thats alot of possible bad apples...

As for the pay considering most agents have just A+ they are paid very well. Now remeber it still retail so you really cant compare it to say a normall Help Desk / Technician job. If you know a job where I can make $70k / year while working on a degree and with very few certs let me know....

Ive only been with them for a few months so I can only speak to what Ive experienced so far...
