    Hi all,

I have recently obtained a 6600GT PCIe which was previously used (and worked) in a Mac. But I plugged it into my machine, and it doesn't even POST. The beeping code is 1-long 2-short, which means graphics problem.

This has been puzzling me, and I think the card might be dead during transport.

However, last night I suddently remembered that back in the days (Geforce-3 era), Mac gfx cards and PC gfx cards had different BIOSes, and were not compatible. Is it still the case with gfx cards?

If so, anyone knows how can I flash it with another BIOS? Seeing as it won't even POST.

(I do not have access to a Mac unfortunately :( )

    Thanks!

    They have got different BIOS'

But to reflash them may be rather difficult, as you'd need to flash the BIOS when it's in the MAC to the PC versions BIOS.

You can sometimes swap pc cards to a mac with a bios swap, but I've never seen it done the other way.

Frankly I would just stick on ebay and buy a pc one with the money as the mac version will go for more money than the pc one.
