News GeForce RTX 3080 Ti could offer 30 percent performance boost

Sep '14: Launch MSRP for the 970 was $329
Jun '16: Launch MSRP for the 1070 was $379
Oct '18: Launch MSRP for the 2070 was $499

From those numbers above we see that the real price increase for the 2070 was "only" 50% over the 970.

So why did the UK price increase by almost twice as much as it did in the US?
One simple answer, the deterioration of our currency.
In September 2014 £1 was worth $1.60
In June 2016 £1 was worth $1.40 (the 1070 launch was just before that vote I won't mention here)
In October 2018 £1 was worth $1.30

$329 : 1.6 = £205. Add on 20% VAT = £245
$379 : 1.4 = £270. Add on 20% VAT = £325
$499 : 1.3 = ££383. Add on 20% VAT = £460

 

I bought a brand new Geforce 1060 a couple of years ago as it was an all new rig. I'm more than happy to use 2nd hand parts and will wait for all the 20xx to hit ebay as people upgrade or buy ols stock 20xx. It's the only way to upgrade for me atm, my kidneys aren't great so very little value.........

 

I got AORUS GTX1080Ti shortly after it came out.. cost ~£750. Will upgrade to RTX3080Ti or whatever it is.. but only if well sub £1K

 

You can't buy a new 2080Ti for that, so you're in for disappointment.
