System memory isn't the issue, it's the video memory - BF3 is very demanding of it, if it bothers you that much try turning down you texture settings. This might do something.

 

I had this once when I first started playing BF3 but havent had it since, very odd. Single GTX 570 with graphics settings on auto. Then again I had a serious framerate drop a few weeks ago. Left the game and went back a few minutes later and havent had the isue since.

 

Have to say I get that Basic theme issue as well, but it's no longer an issue for me.... I just turned Aero off for good lol.

Game disconnects.... annoying indeed. Especially the ones where it says "game session has been removed" or something like that

 

Aye, I stopped the aero thing. Right click your BF3 shortcut, properties, compatibility and check the box by 'disable desktop composition'.

That'll switch aero off while BF3 is running and pop it back on when you shut it down.

Perhaps I could also switch some settings down, not been a huge issue I guess but it's just the one 570 running Ultra on 1680x1050. It does look pretty though.

Much of the time the game is fine since I switched off upnp but then disconnects then come along like buses. Had a couple of PB kicks as well today for the first time, one time just about 10secs into a match, that was even after updating PB.

Edit: Just as an aside, hardcore. I take it you just die easier, there's less on the maps and TKs can happen if you're not careful?

 

OK, i know im not the first and wont be the last but just got my 100th knife kill on CPC server tonight, the knife is now becoming my enjoyment

 

Had a fantastic game on Seine Crossing today with Dweller, markcuk and Achilleas, who supported/repaired the tank like absolute legends.

 

60% health, TK's are on, vehicles have less health and do not auto repair and no icons floating over heads.

 

Ah ha, cheers. I've never quite understood the magical little gremlins managing to fix your vehicle with no repair torch in sight.

 

most importantly, HC doesn't have spot icons, meaning your spotting will have much less effect when playing as random on a server.

it's good because it's harder to be covered in lead when trying to flank. it's bad because when you spot someone out of your weapon range, usually they survive.

(yes, i rely on my team this much, hence why i hate HC. spot, and they dead with help of teammates, this is the way of Battlefield)

 

Doesn't have spot icons on the main screen, but does have them on the minimap, so spotting is not completely defunct and still serves a purpose to other players. It's not discouraged or not used.

You can change the level of zoom on the minimap as well by pressing "N". There are 3 levels of zoom from close, medium to full-map view. Makes a hell of alot of difference in an A10 or Frogfoot looking for ground targets.

Wyx, it seems that most experiences you've had with HC sound like you've been abandoned by other players!

I have no beef with "Normal" mode other than the frankly stupid regeneration system. If it didn't have that, I'd almost play it.

 

Bah, I swear all the guns felt like water pistols when I went back onto a few Normal servers last night. That's one of the problems playing on HC servers too much

Also in HC, Recons who camp miles away from any action should not be allowed to be a Squad Leader

 

isn't that the standard experience of any game nowadays on a random server outside of the usual gaming hours?

to be honest, gaming hours is just people to chat with, to share the funny moments. we are not soldiers, we rarely talk tactics (until Parge comes on).


normal just makes it far easier to help out the team. because i'll admit it, i can't shoot. (miss my spraying VSS so much....)

perhaps this is another reason i like Battlefield so much, you can be helpful to the team, and even top of score board by being a completely noob at shooting. i found normal mode to be more like this whereas HC feels more like CoD with the twitchy speed of death and lack of on-screen spotting.





health regen is good. it makes a lot of time for it to start anyway. and allows you to be more tactical by running away

 

I've being using the SCAR-H but it feels very clunky and not as accurate as the A-91. That gun is brilliant!

I wasn't aware the SCAR-H was nerfed, explains why its pants!

 

SKS is the snipers sprayer of choice. Seems I have been shot the crap by a guy spraying with the SKS and also sniping me with it too. HC restricts you in the fact that I like to lay traps with C4 and don't want to risk killing friendlys.

And you cant even hop over a low fence or wall with out bad luck deaths. Untill they fix that I will steer clear of HC. Though I do love instant kills at almost any range when firing.

 

Teamplay is always where it's at.

Had a surprise round yesterday. Was in an absolutely foul as darkest hell mood, jumped on our server into a game of Rush on Metro at the first stage, attacking. 8 tickets left. Ran at Bravo, armed, dropped 4 people on my way to Alpha, tickets had already run out while Bravo was beeping. Armed Alpha, dropped 2 defusers, mortar fire killed 2 defusers and the rest of the squad nade spammed and shot anyone defusing... 1 full minute of zero tickets. BOOM, both objectives scored. Huzzah!

just wondering, what network setting has everyone set theirs?

i've been told all the way to the left have lower latency and easier to shoot people. all the way to the right will have smoother animations, but hit-box is apparently smaller, and may have slight more latency.

 

Team work at it's best, problem with randoms not on comms and not reading the chat box they don't work well with others. This is annoying when say a team mate is dropping smoke to cover an attack and people don't push forward. Though a team of four all on Mumble have turned a loosing game into a winnning one in the past.

This is due to those four people or more working together nin the past. Many of the CPC players team up on random servers and might not win but hold our own and generally have a good time.

I have had mine either all left or all right changing depending on my network connection and whether I get lag or not. I usually have mine around the middle as my connection is crap at times. It's either an issue with a server connection being poor for me or my actual net connection. Seems to get worse during the evening during peak time.

Not sure if Virgin throttle my connection or not. Though I have been told they do by one person and they don't by another.

Which means people like me on 10meg connection get lower upload/download speeds. Noticed when I have been on BF3 for a long period of time I have lots of sent/recieved packets this could be why I have lag at times.

 

I've never changed it... should I? Does it even make a noticeable difference?

 

no if you are on DracaXL's university connection (which he shouts about it whenever he gets the chance , making everyone jealous). i seem to remember your ping is also very low.

i've not changed it, but was told all the way to the left is easier to get kills for poor people on ADSL........


asking because i've had a few times of running into people around corners, and seems like they have seen me first.

In all seriousness, I love talking tactics, but you have to temper what you say on an open channel, because half the people are on the opposite team. When we split up the teams onto mumble channels, MrDom and I were chatting away and dominating.
