Ohh the M16A4 means select fire :clap::clap: plus MP-443 Cheesecake

I've heard the weapons are faction specific, ie US uses American rifles, Russians use Russian rifles..... it's cool but limiting because you may have a favorite weapon but not be able to use it because you're not on that side

    Not full auto though.

I actually didn't think they would go back to the side specific weapons concept, that's pretty cool.

Dang, my M16 knowledge isn't as vast as it should be

Again, I'm not totally sure on the faction thing, but it would be really really cool if they did

Now if only they had the M16A3, that was the Full-Auto/Select fire one.

Select fire is there for whatever can use it really, so I'm looking forward to having that feature again, burst & full for clearance and single for the ones that count.

Faction specific is good and I am fully behind it. If you want to use the other sides gun..... just shoot someone and take their kit :D Easy.

Personally not a fan of faction specific stuff...

BF2142 for example, i personally found the EU weapons to be better to use. Whether or not it was a placebo thing i'm not sure.

As for simply picking up someone's kit, it's not exactly something you can control... they might have a different sidearm etc. or weapon mod.

If they want things to be completely balanced then it would make sense to make weapons available to everyone.

True. BF2 did have faction specific *base* weapons, but all the unlocks were available to either side, so I would imagine that it would be more along those lines.

I found that confusing and annoying as well. You didn't know how your gun was going to look and behave from one game to the next.

That would be more like it, as long as you don't end up using the base weapons much.

That would probably be the best solution if it was implemented... but then usually the default weapons aren't amazing and are traded out the first unlock you get.

However then if it's like that then creating the small divide at Level One doesn't seem to have much point.

    + On a side note:

Had an absolutely stonking round just now on BC2 as a Medic. 29/5 with the highest score on my side, some of that came as a chopper gunner (around 10-15 kills) but the rest just from me being awesome ^^. Sooooooooo many pins at the end with a total of 16000 points earned and 10000 coming from the "Get 50 Combat Excellence Pins" (8 Kill Streak in a round) :D.

    Happy Happy Times.

Well most of the stock weapons are actually just as good as the unlock ones. The unlocks just give you something 'different' but in only a few cases are they 'better' as such.

Only 1 of the 2 sniper unlocks, both medic unlocks (cheesey) and the anti-tank unlock for the Chinese Anti-Tank kit are the only proper, difference-making weapons in the game imho.

For instance the best support weapon is the standard MEC one, and the AK-101 must be up there for best rifle.

BF2 stock weapons where a good set, specificaly the medic guns as the ak 101 and M16 where the best 2 rifles in the game.

Hmmm, i can only really relate to BF2142 and BC2 where i personally felt that the Stock Weapons got outclassed by the future upgrades.

I do agree that a lot offered more variety, however i felt that variety in itself was generally more favourable than "old dependable".

If BF3 balances the weapons similarly to BFBC2 (though without anomalies like the CG), whereby there are no truly useless weapons I think it'll work out well.

The thing I like about BFBC2 is that if I were to go chasing stars with weapons I wouldn't feel particularly gimped by choosing to focus on a particular weapon in my loadout. A good player can perform well with just about anything in typical gameplay in BFBC2.
Sure, some weapons had their obvious advantages, but the pros and cons used to balance them made it mostly a matter of personal taste without being ridiculous either.

BC 2 Weapons were pretty brilliant. I mean the SA-91 is the perfect example, somehow it's almost as good as the rest of the SMGs even if it gets outclassed by plenty of them.

I went into the game thinking the starter weapons sucked, but they really weren't, you just have to know how to use them and they come into there own.

Would be sweet if they bring back the AN-94. Easily my favourite gun.
