I've pretty much been obsessed since I started playing it online.

I guess the obsession really started last year long before release. It's the reason I went mad and bought 2 x GPUs.

I am forcing myself off it a bit at the moment.

    Guitar practice.

Gaah. I've officially given up on my SPM now and started taking to the skies with Jets and Helicopters. But... I can't hit a damn thing.

I can fly reasonably well on an empty server but when it comes to aiming at anything I'm useless. Also starting off without any flairs or heatseekers is a massive handicap. Currently I'm using mouse and keyboard for helicopters and a controller for jets.

Anyone got any tips? For me flying is so much fun but completely unproductive at the moment.

I can hit with a helicopter. Jets I'm garbage at.

But with helicopters, just practice leveling out and then you can slowly adapt to the manuvers. I'd say practice with that one co-op mission. you'll be able to fly low and fast soon enough.

I'm not that great at piloting. But I do alright.

You know what's weird... When I got rockets for my jet, I went straight out and destroyed a tank on Firestorm map. More recently I can't kill anything. I find it hard finding the enemy tanks so maybe I was on a server that didn't show markers for enemy vehicles. Even when I spotted tanks visually, find it impossible to hit them and even if I hit them they aren't destroyed. Basically I'm crap although I'm not bad at all in a dogfight.

Most of the time the choppers are being flown by teammates so I don't get a chance to use them and when I do I'm shot down quickly unless I fly low and fast.

With jets I can avoid SAM and AAA by dropping very low and hugging terrain... flying behind hills.

Loads of great tips in these, the guy is like no.5 on the jet leaderboards so he knows what he's talking about.

Ah just had 2 great games on 64p Wake Island CQ, 3-man tank crew on skype taking out enemy attack helos, tanks and transport helos. It is the most satisfying thing to lead a transport heli and pop a shell into its side, and somehow I managed to do that 4 times within about half an hour :D

I thought after BF2 I would hate Wake, but it really does allow for some fun defensive and ninja gameplay :)

Very good videos. I watched at 1080. He's using mouse for the jets, I may have to try that because BF3 crashes my X52 Pro and joystick not so precise.

G36 was so good I stopped using it. And then I discovered the AS VAL.

Yeah it's a fantastic weapon, although it seems to lose a lot of its punch if you put a suppressor on it, which is a pity, as I do love the suppressor's perk of not showing up on the minimap when you fire. Nonetheless it's an absolute beast in close combat situations, and has fantastic hip-fire.

The AS VAL is brilliant as well, it has pretty decent hip-fire with the laser-sight and despite the small clip I love using it. Great in close quarter combat, just like the G36.

All the PDW's hip fire life bosses and if I can't equip extended mags or a suppressor then it's the laser sight. It make hip firing even better if you can believe that. I personally like the PDW-R the most.

BTW I have all the unlocks for all the guns except the QBU-88, it's been a challenge but overall I'm glad I did it. Weapons like the AN-94 or HK2002 would have been passed up before. But now that I've forced myself to use them, I know firsthand they are decent weapons. I'm now going to try to get 500 kills with all primary weapons and 100 for all the handgun variants (except the tac ones, I hate tac lights with a passion)

I will have to give the PDW-R another go I used it briefly.

And OMG!! 11 more PKP kills till I get my 19th service star. Think I will change once I have hit 20 service stars and start working through a different weapon xD

I found the PKP a little shaky, what setup are you using Dom?

I find the MG36 a bit more accurate...

Using Holo Sights, Foregrip and Exstended mag.

Recoil is bad until you get the bipod which is only good when you are some kind of support, floor etc

With foregrip and continuous fire the recoil seems to calm down somewhat. And if you single click you can fire one round off. Which I have done and headshotted people in the past. With good mouse control the spread of rounds with recoil can spray up your opponent and usually ends with death and head shot.

I have gotten 534 headshots with it too date. And 1896 kills!

I am sick of ice cream right now.

I've just started using it and that's the same setup I'm using. Pretty devastating.

Little game of op metro with 1000 tickets.. They decimated us at start but we pulled it back and won by a narrow margin. 61000 points total for that game inc 2 medals and recon service star 2 lol. It's ludicrous!

A few good games tonight, winning this Op Metro round was easy. Pushing them back to spawn was even better.

Flanking and shooting a whole squad at stairs EPIC!

This goes to show a good team, and good squad does wonders. Oh and Dexta and Dweller running into our gunfire also helps. Last kills Dexta taking me and Gunsmith out one after the other lol
