I used to use the G36C a lot and then gave the G53 a go. Wasn't really feeling it until I unlocked the foregrip and silencer for it - in CQB it definitely has a lot of stopping power. Recently I've been liking the QBZ-95B as well but like the FAMAS the ironsights for it were pants so it didn't really come alive until I got the RDS for it. Moving onto the SG553 now

 

I bought an Xbox360 controller at the weekend for use in the jets but I can not get the thing to free look using the right stick. It's set in the options and I can reconfigure the controls and it accepts the the right stick as the input but in game it does not work.

Anybody here using the right stick for free look? It's maddening as it is almost impossible to track your target once they turn or to even acquire them in the first place.

 

free look sucks in the jet. even if you did manage to make it work, it will be so slow it's not worth it, and also free look will only work in cockpit mode.

use 3rd person camera and plane radar spec to track jets and choppers.

 

Nah mate, I use free look all the time (M&K combo). Like to fly around the perimiter of the map and scope out where everything is before bombing runs

 

I have freelook button assigned to my HOTAS throttle in conjunction with a hat switch I can pan around. Useful sometimes. Shame the game lacks a proper easy to use freelook though. Some of the arcade aspects DICE never learn to improve.

 

sorry, i meant to say freelook sucks on xbox controller because its sensitivity is too slow.

i just require targets to be spotted, i basically cannot shoot without the target being marked. once marked, just track it mentally when performing manoeuvres to get into strafing position.

 

Edit the BF3 config file and increase sensitivity. The file is in the my docs folder.

 

can i increase sensitivity to individual sticks? pitch/roll sensitivity is fine, just free-look sensitivity is snail pace

 

As far as I know u can configure everything. I reduced the fecking awful deadzone BF3 had with joystick. Got rid of it so jstick very responsive.

I play HC so I only have the in cockpit view. As I have never flown the jets I don't have any unlocks either so it's a case of take off then try and disable/destroy something before the swarm of heat seekers catches up.

I went onto a flying practice server but that consisted of two good pilots on one team strafing the jets in spawn or immediately shooting you down once you took off.

 

Anyone else Battlefield would benefit from a Sea Warfare level?

2 Aircraft carriers with Jets & Heli's, and boats in the sea. TDM only.
You could even make it a take on the Mothership mode from BF2142, with 4 smaller gunships protecting the carrier, which need to be taken out before squads can assault the carrier, trying to take out it's engine..

Idea needs tweaking, but think it could be fun.

 

Did you play Battlefield 1943? There was a mode called Air Superiority which was basically one big 12v12 dog fight for control over the skies. Something like that in BF3 would be pretty damn awesome

 

32 F/A-18 or Su-35 flying around? yes please

it's a shame they've put the crappy F-35 in Wake Island, and only put in 2 planes otherwise it should be just as awesome.

 

1943 is the only game in the series I didn't play.

How do we make this happen people?

Don't know which params in the prof settings file relate to the freelook. I will look later.
