+1 call me a troll or whatever but I normally hate Metro with a passion, but playing it with my mate using the M26 has brought nothing but fun and lulz :p

    Yay! Suppression medal!

    Look at me - I can't hit a barn door. :p

Melee medal on the way, slowly been picking 2 or 3 up a day over the past few days after making an effort to get it. Just 24 more dogtags to go. :)

I battled like hell to get the 50 suppresion ribbons to gain my 1st suppression medal playing metro and deliberately going out of my way to miss things (before the patch) now the damn things just fall in.

    Prior to the last patch I never hit a plateau, but my general accuracy was around 19%. Now it's at 21.3%. However, those slightly portable monsters I never got on with;

    PKP PECHENEG: Time: 00:03:59 Kills: 0, Shots: 142, Hits: 4, Accuracy: 2.82%,
    M240B: Time: 00:00:17, Kills: 0, Shots: 52, Hits: 0, Accuracy: 0.00%

The vid was nice, and what struck me was seeing what I thought must be your PKP Cookie shootin' style. I tried being all clicky clicky, which made horrendous amounts of up down yachting aiming - I'm guessing this was what was wrong, trying to use my usual 3 to 9 length bursts on the rearers. My favourite weapon is probably the MP7, I think of it like a 'pike' saber, though god knows why it has single shot mode - that got me killed once toggling the laser sight (fire mode is remapped to R, so that I don't accidentally press it checking the scoreboard or map. Thinking about I don't use it.)

Wish I recorded part of the round I had earlier. Jeep over to E on Op Firestorm, killed Heli with Gunner seat after it took damage. Double kill, went to C4 Tank but was Assault. Killed guy on TOW Launcher. Killed Gregg with TOW Launcher and then Tank with it.

What he means is that he killed me at point blank with the tow launcher. Utter bs that it's impossible to kill someone with that at range, or that it's difficult to rpg on inf at close range yet the tow does it heh. Oh well, got some of those fancy blank tags from dom later that round.

Had an epic moment when I was on Op Firestorm that game, using the TOW at D I killed two guys in the attack heli that was over E. Nearly jizzed my pants, got a 'nice' from the pilot too haha :) Stupidly enough, I wasn't recording. Might have to start doing that when I get my GTX 580.

I have a question about play-style for you guys:

What style of play do you usually go with? I'll give some examples (note these aren't just 1 word titles):

You play to set up situations for your team. What I mean for this is that either by word or by action you try to get your team into a good position against the enemy. This can take the form of using smoke to cover one side while you (and hopefully others) move up behind the smoke to flank, or even rolling the tank over behind enemy lines where you know you'll get killed, but you know that you'll take a bunch with you and that the enemy front line will weaken (hopefully enough for your team to break through). If you're fortunate enough to have voice with your team, you would try to organize people and make the attack/defense setup better.

You play like the lone star running around gunning people down indiscriminately. Basically what this looks like is you running through an enemy line (either by flanking or other means) without any communication and attempt to either break the line yourself, cap a base by yourself, or arm a station by yourself. This can be very elegant like a lone soldier who's good at flanking and getting behind enemy lines to destroy it, or it can look like an idiot running straight at a storm of bullets.

You play to one or a small set of skills that you know you have. This can look like a person who knows they're really good at being a recon and picking people off while informing your team about the enemy's movements, so they basically only and always play recon. This can also look like people waiting for the chopper to spawn because all they know how to play in the game is the chopper (lol video). The previous post's video may make this look bad, but playing to your strength can actually be really beneficial to the team rather than going around playing terribly and accomplishing nothing. A similar pattern to this would be people who insist on playing only 1 small skill set regardless of their level of skill with it hoping that they'll improve (which they usually do).

These are just a few examples to illustrate what kind of answer I'm looking for with the question. You could answer one of these, some mix of these, or none of these (make up your own). I'm just interested to see what kinds of play styles there are out there especially for large public games.

My personal play style is playing to the situation. I don't focus on 1 thing, and I don't focus that much on myself (unless the situation calls for it). If I see a potential way to bring my team into a good or better situation, I move to do it whether that means spawning as a support ONLY to rearm my team (I don't like LMG's =/) or giving up my personal killing ability by taking a smoke launcher and using it effectively. A surprising tactic that works well for me in the right situation is to use the recon to force the other team to back up. On maps where my team's losing, the opposing forces will usually start setting up camp in strategic places. If I know the map and know how to counter those areas I'll spawn in as a sniper and clean out those areas even though I won't be able to do much for my team in terms of capturing a base (since I need to keep distance to do this). Even if I can't clean out every area, people who come to the areas I hit begin to think of those areas as bad since I keep killing them there so they vacate and that allows my team to move up along that lane of attack again.

You know what Gregg we both know that I hit you point blank so stop making excuses for dying. Yeah you got my blank tags like it matters. In anycase I enjoyed the start of that round :)

@dae;: I'm the semi aggressive lone star. But I change classes depending on the situation. I'm also Wiley inconsistent.

I used to be the flanking lone star all over just trying to sneak behind enemy infantry with a silenced weapon, capping bases. Lately now I've been playing to the situation more: always trying to push up with the team and often leading the charge still with a bit of flanking involved. Also if the situation demands I'll certainly mix it up with other classes/vehicles.

Why does everyone make a big point about knifing someone, I have nearly 400 knife kills and couldn't give a toss about any of them, once I hit the magic 500 for the master dog tag, I'll probably never use it again.

Recently knifing someone especially Aria players is the aim of the game. Getting that crafty knife kill on an unsuspecting sniper is also fun. But C4ing someone is even better.

Yeh but it's not the b all and end all that's what gets me.

It's like wow u were in the right place at the right time to hit the F key geez OMG.

A long distance head shot or a well aimed tv missile against a moving aircraft is so much more skilled than jamming a key.

People seem to think they are humiliating people but in all honesty they are just being an arse, came across a guy today who had 7500 knife kills and every time he knifed someone he had to type owned, just makes me think said person is a kid if he has to type that sort of crap everytime.

Like Elton said EOD and c4 is far more sneaky than knifing someone.

Yet to kill someone with defibs, it's a crying shame, I remember the defib fights I used to have with clan members back in the bf2 days, they were fun even if I did lose most of the time :)

Erm...I did say that you hit me point blank lol, i wasn't denying it...are you repeating what I say? No, cus your tags are worth f all, they're like a hookers knickers :p Oh and I was standing behind you for like five seconds, the first swipe missed, as usual.

Oh and when did people start spelling the name Greg, with two gg's? :worried:

Because getting knifed means you weren't watching your ass :naughty: Be it because you were camping, trying to remain inconspicuous while capping, or just 'taking a breather'.

It can't be done tbh, I've sat behind an unsuspecting recon and could have kept at it all day with the paddles. In the end I just gave up. It's a shame there isn't a dog tag for the repair tool btw.
