BF3 is the probably the best sounding game I've ever played. The only reason you can hear gun reloads in COD is because there's no tanks firing at you while the guy behind you is reloading. The sound blew me away in BFBC2 and it only got better in BF3.

I've played both COD and BF on a semi-decent surround system and very decent headset. The big difference is that COD is ... quieter.

I also lol'd. Sounds like someone is far too reliant on sound whoring footsteps to be aware of where the enemy is instead of having basic battlefield awareness to prevent getting flanked. Since the last patch it's actually a lot easier to hear footsteps, but only really when you're in the same building or just outside, which is fine TBH (unlike in COD where you can hear someone scratching their arse from halfway across the map). And to those who say the sound is completely useless in competitive scenarios:

Personally I think the sound design in BF3 is some of the best I've ever experienced in an FPS. It may not have the clinical, sterile design of some competitive FPSes but I find it so much more immersive. There's something about an RPG flying narrowly over your head or a jet coming in for a strafing run that you just cannot get from COD and its endless, anemic sound of grenade launchers flying across the map.

Not pretending to be pro or anything, we all know roughly my skill level, but aren't the tips in that video kinda ... basic? Do people really need a video to tell them that if someone screams "grenaaaaade" in the enemy team's language it means there's a grenade next to him? Or that the defib beeps whenever you take it out? Do people not notice these things while playing?

I can understand the need for some of the other videos about burst firing and gauging your distance to the target to figure out how short each burst needs to be, and I can understand the reason for videos about how attachments affect weapons (considering most effects aren't apparent without heavy experimentation), but this is REALLY basic stuff. Isn't it?

There's a difference between being a good player and being a smart player, so they may not be as obvious to everyone, particularly newbies (hence the video title). Besides, as a general rule of thumb I'd say it's a good idea to never underestimate the Youtube audience's stupidity :p

Most of what they said I already knew. Didn't realise that the pro gamers called that one location J/JStairs and J Window you can jump into from up top xD

It shows noobs the audio queues that most don't realise are taking place. Not forgetting, C4 being placed/Blown/Ammo/Health being dropped and reloads being yelled.

I listen for those. And when you become complacant you can miss so much going on around you. Listening out for C4 being dropped is a good thing. As you can hear it if your in a tank xD

Listen carefully. I usually do if only to set up a quick trap. Knowing where an enemy is is invaluable. The only problem is that I hate the queues because my position is given away.

That they do but I have ran into many of your traps in the past. :)

I do love setting traps for people though.

This one being my favourite. It was an accident though.

When are you imagining this happened? Before or after I dominated you multiple times with my jet/tank/heli?

You're getting delusional in your old age Digi.

Well it happened when I bailed out of that jet, landed on your jet, wrenched open the cockpit and shouted 'yippee-kai-eh ************!' - or thereabouts.. ;)

My MP7 showed up your M416 though, that's for sure! And I'm going in to a heavy training regime with jets for that 'old age' comment!

    You androgynous *******! :naughty:

At work yes. Shame to hear about the insomnia, usually a sign of increased stress mate, need to get out there and get yourself a job asap so you can function again.

More comedy gold from the CODPLOPS comment thread. I'm now suspecting this guy has been trolling the whole time, but I also fear he is deadly serious.

He's ignored the simple fact. Gun is MW2 are dull sounding. No real differentiation between them. Battlefield 3/BC2 one weapon does not sound like the other at anytime.

Oh and when you have Brave/AngryMan stating that a specific weapon sounds like the real thing. Seeing as he's ex Services and has fired said weapon or equivalent. Kinda points to the obvious.

I'm going to go look at his BF3 stats and laugh!

I see he has yet to post his Battlelog, and I don't think I have ever seen him post in this thread at all but I might be wrong.
